Unhappy She may have to go.

The wife that is. Took delivery of our gleaming 1.8 ex in Milano Red only 9 days ago but my beloved wife failed to put the handbrake on properly and the car gently rolled down the drive and into a low wall . Not too much damage just a cracked numberplate and a few scratches which will be taken care quickly but i was less than impressed after spending 4-5 hour supaguarding and polishing the car the day before. If it happens again she may have to go, Maybe i could trade her in for a younger model !!

I have indeed, alas it seems the fault was in her not pulling the lever enough.

Regretably, newer models don't come with any improvements and you'll get next to nothing as a trade-in.........unless, of course, you were referring to the car!

Am I the only person to always leave my car in gear? Having owned a series of antique Renaults and having lived on a hill in France for a few years, I learned the hard way.

PS As for the trade in, I have a '61 model with only superficial marks (commensurate with age and use etc etc) which I'd be happy for you to have a gander at. Good chassis, sound mechanics, runs okay, bodywork fair (see above). Knows how to apply a handbrake, which might be of interest...

i leave mine in gear now after having a shock of the handbrake suddenly releasing itself with a lond bang. Thankfully i was sat in the drivers seat. Since then its always left in gear.

I can remember my driving instructor, telling me to always leave the car in gear.
Has been a habit with me ever since.
He also told me,all Those Years Ago, -- "So, you have passed your test -- Now start learning to drive".

Mine does the exact opposite and leaves it with the lever almost pulled off, upwards. Alas, this is a painful trait, even with much protestation at home!
