Warning for Diesel Owners

Just a reminder to diesel owners.

Page 312 of the handbook.

To avoid the possibility of damaging the turbo bearings through

inadequate lubrication, ALWAYS allow the engine to idle for 10 seconds

before switching the ignition off.

So if you give it welly, let it rest before switching off.

Yea I just spotted that in the manual during my geek session lastnight, I'll let my salesman know that one as I think they should tell customers about that before they drive off.

Don't know about other models but on my EX I'm trying to get in the habit of, park the car, handbrake on, press folding mirrors button which I guess takes 5 or more seconds, once mirrors have folded then turn off

Funny, that's my routine too. The idle is SOP for turbo diesels, didn't bother too much with my Pug and all seems OK. Don't think the turbo spins much when I reverse on to my drive so does that count?

Kpow99.

I think your perfectly safe with that.

Its dodgy if you scream down the road , high revs, brake hard to a

stop, and immediately switch off. If you do that a lot, you could have

problems later.
