BUT....i have no idea why anyone likes the CVT gearbox, for me this ruined the car. it just makes it so boring and slow with an annoying droaning engine note, and god knows what they were thinking with the paddle shift mode.

maybe its better with a manual but i bloody hated that cvt crap! i was so happy when i VTEC'ed it out of the dealers in my Prelude 'running in' the new clutch
The reason that I and many others love the Jazz CTV box is it provides completely smooth and seamless changes that were impossible to detect. it has 7 preset gears that are manually selectable by the paddle shift mode there as an option if required but above all the car was always in the right gear at the right time and if you wanted to drive it hard it always felt unburstable and did all that was required very well.
P:S What droning engine note, are you sure you drove a Jazz

Just had a horrific thought..... Jazz Type R! That would kill so many people, I went through some chicanes at over 25mph and it almost rolled! (with a 1.4 auto!!!). The steering was attached to the wheel by means of carefully trained mice, who upon seeing the wheel move, would inform the steering mice...... perhaps not but this system could be no worse than the Jazz's steering, which was just numb and far too slack....

However my grandad would have loved it, and it would have suited him, however for most people it just isn't practical if you drive out of a town.

Tom (yes there are hints of sarcasm in the above post......)

Suggest you improve your knowledge by logging onto some of the Japanese web sites and you can see all about the racing versions and equipment developed for the Jazz.
If you admit to nearly rolling a Jazz at 25mph your driving skills obviously need improving so first stage would be to pass a driving test and then be tutored by an experienced driver that can show you how to drive and handle a car safely at speeds in excess of 25 mph.

Best wishes from a Grandfather with rally and racing experience

Hi,

I did say there was sarcasm involved, and it certainly felt like the car was not as planted as my civ (BTW, I have my licence [first time both parts] and a perfect pass-plus)......still some sarcasm, but not as much.....

Glad to hear that you had good passes, now the next stage is driving experience, in my case over 50 years in many types of vehicles and conditions which will then enable you to to review vehicles fairly and accurately without the Clarkson type sarcasm.
Enjoy your motoring but always keep an open mind as with cars "horses for courses" is so often true.
Best Wishes and Happy motoring

No. I got expelled

My sarcasm was meant to be jovial, and my only comment was that the car felt like it was going to tip, not that it actually was........ anyways, nuff said. My driving experience is only 5 years so I'm obviously in my place....... and If I was going to be Jeremy Clarkson about it I would have gotten the French in there somewheres and a shot of me sohuting POWWWWWWWERRRRRRRRR whilst going side-ways (or rolling over dependant). Anyone reading my previous comments would have seen I actually like the car, but don't think it was ever meant to be driven anywhere other than in town where quick corners and obstacles are only encountered at under 25mph....

I do honestly like the car (although it doesn't so much accelerate but get louder ). It is well thought out, inherently better built and it has AN AUX IN SOCKET AS STANDARD!!!!!! I wouldn't choose one over my civ' but I can see it has a place.
