How many keys do you have?

Hi when I picked up my EX from the dealer last week they only had one key because thats all they got from the previous owner. I was promised a second but the dealer haven't bothered getting back to me! Can you tell me how many keys I should have, so I can argue this when they do decide to contact me? I've always had 3 for my previous cars.

Yeah, only two with the Civic. I also had 3 with my previous car.

I think you should maybe call the dealership and ask to speak with whoever is in charge, probably best to maybe speak with the sales manager and tell him whats been going on. You should then see the missing key appear!

Thanks guys, I'll call them today and demand my second key, plus enquire about the barcode thingy mentioned above. Will they need my car back at the dealership to code the key? I hope not as the dealer is miles away!!

Key should be factory coded, donīt think that is done by the dealer.

I've got two. And yes they'll need you car back to program the new key to work with your car.

Unless they actually have the original second key lying around somewhere.

Are you sure the dealer does the coding?

I would think if they were supplying a new key they would want to program it for you. Unless they will talk you through it over the phone, or you can get the instrustions from the net. But he'll have to go and get the key from the dealers anyway.

I asked my dealer about key replacement when I bought the car.
I think the procedure was to order the key from an authorized dealer. Don't know if there is any initializing of the key at the dealer.

I've got 2 as well (had 5 before!!!! [two normal, one valet and two plastic spares], I never used any apart from the proper ones, didn't seems much point). I'd insist on them getting you another too, before they have forgotten.....
