I saw one Civic parked up a while ago which had the basic wheel trims (which didn't surprise me) but the twin triangular exhausts blanked out in the same material as the rear honeycomb (which did). Excuse my ignorance but was this an S spec example I saw ?

No, it was probably a 1.4 Civic. The 1.8 and 2.2 diesels have the chromed triangular twin exhausts, the 1.4 doesn't. The ports are blanked off and the exhaust exits under the rear bumper like a 'normal' car. Shame really.
The S and R versions will have the triangles, but a different shape to ours. And sculpted skirts. |

My dealer told me (so it must be true..umm) that no S spec Civics have been sold in the UK and that, as above, it's just to get the 'starting from...' price looking low. He told me that you don't even get hub caps, just bare steel wheels

It may have some things missing, but it is not a totally basic car, for instance you still get :-
Air Conditioning Electric Windows Front, Side and Curtain Airbags Electric and Heated Door Mirrors Alarm Remote Central Locking VSA Discs All Round ABS Multifunction Computer Etc Colours are also limited and there are no factory fitted options. So it may be a 'marketing' ploy, but it's not that bad. Ian |

Maybe with the 'no radio' you can at least install your own head unit with an iPod in capability! Ian |

No radio
also means no speakers though! Or wiring for speakers for that matter!
I think that the no parcel shelf really was the bit to get nobody to order them to be honest. |

I don't think that there has ever been one. People often ask about the entrry level model, and I only bring up the 1.4 SE.
The S model doesn't even have the wheel trims mentioned above. As far as the pricing thing goes, I cam't be sure, as there are also 1.8 and 2.2 models available in the S |
