Door handle "theft"??
Ever since the 8th-gen civic was launched, I've been told that Honda "nicked" the hidden door handles from Alfa-Romeo. Even experienced motor journalist's has claimed that from day one.
Is that really the truth? Personally I don't believe so. In fact, I rather think it is the other way round. Have a look at the pictures on the following links; Honda NSX 1990 - 2005 (click on images to enlarge Honda NSX Pictures and wallpapers - Top Speed Alfa Romeo 156 launched 1997; Alfa Romeo 156 Review @ The Alfa Workshop http://www.alfaworkshop.co.uk/Final%...156_saloon.jpg Have I got it all wrong or are people talking bulls**t to me??! Actually, it was the manager at the local Honda dealership (NSX owner) that pointed this out for me. (otherwise I wouldn't knew) Is it only because Honda is a non-European car maker they just couldn't invented it?? What's your opinion on this?! Last edited by amronno; 7th November 2007 at 17:41. |

Yep
My guv'nor's got a V reg 156 and the rear door handles are identical. They do look more convincing on the Civic though. Quite a few peeps have commented on my "3 door" not realising it has 5 |

An aside to this:
Why did Honda not chrome or paint the handles? They are cheap and nasty compared to the Accord and CRV |

When told to use the rear door, she then decided to try and prize it open so eventually I decided to help her! |

I had hidden door handles on my Lotus 7, all those years ago, but Colin Chapman did tend to forget to put a few bits in the box in those days.

The front door handles are painted - in satin chrome
(got to admit though I do prefer the handles on my CR-V) |

I had a Fiat Coupe 1997 and that had exactly the same door handles. so the design is ten years old and Fiat used it on the Coupe before they used it on the Alfa
