Type R D
Not been on the forum for a couple of weeks, too busy not by choice, I can't believe that nobody has mentioned the Type R D story on page 13 of Auto Express from last week. It's looking like it's going to be a 180bhp variant of the new 2.2 IDTEC engine. Sale dates are speculated to be 2009.
Was planning on a 2.0 A4 TDI S LINE for my company car may well hold out now ! |

hi mate. It's been talked about in these threads....
All New Diesels are on the way http://www.civinfo.com/forum/honda-n...iesel-way.html From what I can gather there will be two versions of the iDTEC, the top one being 180bhp. However in one thread there is talk of the proposed "TypeD" engine having 'high revving' capability. So whether that means a second version of the 180bhp engine I do not know. |

I'll have up to x amount for my company car on the Lombard scheme, which is actually a personal loan that my company pays me back through my salary, the less I spend the less I'll have to pay back. The IDTEC will be one of the cleanest diesel engines around and so my monthly tax rate will be low. I think. To be honest I would take a Type R D over a 2.0 A4 TDI S-Line regardless. Civ has bags of style and character just less bage Kudos. Probably got lots more rattles, creaks and squeaks to but I still love mine. |

Drove an A4 some weeks ago. Boring. Prefer my Civic. Sure, more of a quality feel to the Audi´s build. But that is it. |

Same for me, my new Civic company car arrives in 2 weeks. I had the choice of Audi, BMW, Lexus, Merc but they just don't fit my needs.
There are many things I like about the Civic which the others just don't have and most importantly I didn't want a dull car. I'm not bothered about badge kudos, afterall I sold a Porsche 993 this year and bought a VX220 Turbo. John |

Yeah I agree. If there had been a Type R D when I was buying mines, I would have had that instead as I was looking also at the 2.2 Type S.
Type R D would be the best of both worlds and I can't see how it can't be done as it seems every other car manufacturer seems to be doing it |
