That's what I thought. I thought with Isofix you could juct click in and thats it, the Isofix base I have for the back facing stage 1 fits nice and tight but this next one we tried the Isofix clicked in OK but thee was too much lateral movement and she said that it wasn't a safe fit!?! might try somewhere else, just want to find someone else that has this seat though.
Thanks for the reply. |

I know what you mean about Isofixed seats, I tried one in my Civic and it rattled around so much I opted for a belt fixed one (that was a Maxi cosi Gp0 seat rear facing as I recall). With a larger seat I guess you need the upper tether anchor attached to give the seat some security; without it it would be very loose.
I'm looking at seats again with the pending 'new delivery' and I'm probably going down the Recaro route again as they are so good. The kids are worth it. Good luck in your quest, I'm sure someone has got one out there. |

When I had the Type S on loan I couldn't get the right angle to get the seat belt tight so I went & got the Britax ISO fix Duo which can fit using ISO fix or standard seat belt. I got the Britax one cos I was in a major hurry to buy & couldn't get anything else from the local shops there & then. I would now go for a MaxiCosi ISO fix if I had the time to have it delivered. It seems every seat test puts the Maxi Cosi on top... of the rankings, not the roof. That'd be silly. But not a bad idea for some journeys. The Britax has the optional (extra cost) seat tether (strap) that goes over the back of the seat & clips to the anchor point on the back of the seat which I thought was a good idea. |

I agree with Maxi Cosi choice, if you can find one in budget & available to you in your time limit, if you have one. www.glasgowpramcentre.co.uk & www.icbaby.co.uk have both been good to me in the past. |

Hello Kpow99 I use the Maxi Cosi Tobi, its not isofix, but is very easy (imho) to fit and remove, and the little one seems to find it comfortable. The restraints are also sprung so it is very easy to put the little one into the seat. (If you have a look at one you'll see what I mean). I use it in conjunction with seat protectors (Prince Lionheart brand) which don't get in the way of any curtain airbags and do not interfere with the fit of the seat. Hope this helps. |

You will 'officially' need a top teather - you can get a one here - £15.00 + 3.50 p&p (you will need to call as oppose to ordering online) Last edited by mattlittle; 4th September 2007 at 13:21. |

I have a Recaro Start in the back of my 5dr civic and I find it fits in really well. Also after three years heavy use it still washes up great.
The other good thing I find very practical with the civic is the smaller rear doors allow you open them in car parks without risk to paintwork. I have to disagree with What Car who say they are a bad feature |

In answer to Naresh's question - to which Topcat pointed him in the direction of this thread - the Britax Cosy Tot (I have the European equivalent called the Romer Baby Safe) is basically the seat that Honda rebrand as their own in the dealerships.
If your budget allows, I would recommend you buy it with the isofix base which really is a godsend. Easy to fit, adjust and take the baby in and out of. Believe me, not having to mess about with seatbelts is fantastic, as our little' un is only a month old! The seat itself is excellent quality with extra cushioning around the head. It's also made in Germany, so it feels like a premium product. I spent about two weeks looking at seats in conjunction with a travel system and the Britax just about swung it for me. The Maxi-Cosi range, however, is also very good (perhaps a bit more stylish, with a range of nice colours). And rates extremely well safetywise (see ADAC test below). I also thought the Recaro Profi Plus and Concorde Ion seats were decent too. However, the Recaro has material that looks difficult to clean (could be wrong) and the Concorde travel system buggy was fiddly to use. As a rough guide, I actually used ADAC's test reviews (in German) to help decide. Even if you're not fluent, it's easy to make sense of the reviews! |

So just to clarify, does the Maxi-Cosi Tobi fit easily into the 5-door because I'm told it requires an extra long belt! I do like the idea of the Isofix Duo but the Tobi looks nicer and has the spring loaded harness.

I have Mammas & Pappas Pro-Tec car seat for my 14 month old daughter. Fits good no movement as had the sales person fit it to check. Looks good in the chequers with my interior . Only down fall is when my little one falls to sleep sometimes the head falls forward so maybe need a neck support.
Looking at investing in the sunshades is it just the honda sales tha tdo them or can you get the elsewhere a little cheaper zig zag Galaxy EX |

Oops, sorry Naresh. Ignore my previous post as I see you're after a different category of seat (i.e. 9 months upwards)!
Anyway, the instructions for the Tobi seat are found here. I think Maxi-Cosi's UK distributors should be able to answer any other questions you have regarding the belts (especially as the Fitting List at: Maxi-Cosi isn't a big help |

I have the Honda sunshades (including the hatch window shade) and they are brilliant - I have not seen them anywhere but at dealers. I do not leave them in all the time, but all three can be fitted in about two minutes and they fit under the false boot floor even when it is lowered. |

After reading Which's report on the Recaro Start, and the fact that the cover is starting to wear, I have upgraded the seat in the back of my 5dr to a Britax Evolva 2-3 Isofit Ultra.
While not cheap, with the amount of miles I do, i chose not to go down the booster seat route. It appears to be a very good seat for age 4 upwards. It has brilliant side impact protection (as yet untested) but the video on their website looked good. It is securely reclinable and compared to other seats (the Recaro apart) it is well padded for comfort. The isofix fittings hold it in place during enthusiastic cornering and braking (little one not in situ!!) and has no rattles (non I can hear above the car anyway!!) while empty unlike other seats I have tried. I know many people will go down the booster seat route once at the age 4+ seat, but my daugter (nearly 6) keeps falling off a booster seat on long journeys necesitating a full seat. I wish more manufacturers did an age 4+ isofix seat as it might drag the price down with extra competition. |
