Geting wet when you open the boot?

There is a bit of a design flaw with the boot of the new Civic!

Whenever it has been raining and I got to open the boot afterwards I can quite easily get soaked, and not from rain on the car itself.

It seems that rain gathers inside the rear hatch near the bottom and as soon as you lift it the water pours out.

You have to wait about 10-20 secs to let all the water drain out before you even consider going inside to put something in the boot.

I have not had this problem on any other hatch, well not this bad, a few drips maybe, but on the Civic it is a downpour.

I think there needs to be a better drainage method in the base of the door.

Anyone else get soaked?

I noticed this too. There's been no shortage of rain around these parts recently and I wasn't best pleased when I copped a bit of a soaking when raising the boot. Unlike previous cars I've owned the boot is quite hefty for a hatchback and I find myself standing right under the boot when it rises, perfectly placed to catch the considerable amount of water that's run off a couple of times.

Perhaps I'll add it to the letter I'm writing to Honda about the silly dashboard material...

I should think every civic ower has noticed this after a downpour. It's hard to ignore a tumbler full of water down the neck

I was told by Honda that only the EX has the built in shower feature, but it appears they fit it to all models

That's why it took me so long to realise that the rear window was leaking. It was only when I looked in the mirror and saw it dripping (when I hadn't opened the boot door), that the penny dropped.

Is this Honda's answer to the water shortage - Is there a hook for hanging the shower gel?

Yes, but a little inconveniently placed just above the rear side doors.

I think that it its a feature on all civics. Happens on the previous model aswell.

It prevents drowsiness after shopping with the missus for two hours in some faceless supermarket!!

Same thing when you wash the screen and leave your window open.

That got me thinking. Since my last 2 cars have had climate control, I cannot think of a time where I have drivin with the window open, except to get tickets from car park machines or pay tolls etc.

If its cold and horrid, window up to keep car warm. If it's hot, window up to keep car cool. Has anybody actually driven with windows down in their civics?

You've said it all. We're in out own 'climate zone'. I'd hate to drive in Summer with the windows open, for fear of getting a wild wasp in the car. We don't mind Ladybirds though !!

I open all the windows before I set off if it is a hot day, just to let the majority of the heat out. You can drop the temp a huge amount before you even start the car and the climate control.
