http://www.civinfo.com/forum/136989-post37.html Personally I think the Focus is a fine choice, especially when considering the handling and value for money available. I need a cheap second car and it will almost certainly be a high mileage recent Focus or Mondeo. |

Yeah snap and that is exactly why I didnt want the whole world knowing what I had bought because I miss the civic and I dont think the Focus is a great car to look at and its bland inside. Having to listen to comments like that just reminds me that I am not driving the most interesting of cars anymore. Thanks Pottsy |

TC,
Dont be ashamed, you are not driving a spaceship anymore, but you're driving a good and reliable car (I'm sure you would not compromise yourself by driving a 307 or a Mégane And who knows, maybe with the 9th gen, you will go back to the honda familly (after one or two years of production to be sure that the quality is what you expect) |

I've owned a 307 for 5 years, I've driven 185000 Km with this car, in a good confort, nice handling and acceptable performance, and in which it has been changed almost all parts that can be changed (sometime more than once) exept the frame, the engine or the furniture (they didn't accept to change the seats under waranty) and pay a visit to my dealer almost every month or so. When I bought the car I've had in the package the 5 years "maintenance" program (waranty extension plus all parts change included) under the dealer pressure (I bless him). So when the waranty was finish I sold the car and bought a Civic From my experience and from the statistic made by the motor industry in France, the return rate of cars under waranty for french manufacturer are between 25 and 40 % (depending of brand and type) and is under 10 % for Japanese brands. I coulld tell you a lot of others sad story about french cars I've bought for my company (5 of the 6 Peugeot van whe bought have broken they motors at 100000 km or less) and so on. I know a lot of drivers of French cars who whish to visit less often the dealer This point being made, I should add that the new generation of french cars looks better (quality built) than the former one. But I will wait a liitle bit before changing my mind. Oh, for the records, I was just kidding TC Have a nice day Laurent |

Sometimes they do work very well. My colleague owned a -98 Xantia for six years with no problems at all (except for changing doors and bumpers because she was frequently run into during winters, due to off-white camouflage color). Now she own a C3 and I don't dare to ask.

i had nothing but problems with my last car (citroen) dealer was a joke. i had to tell them what parts to replace as they didnt have a clue. still wasent right after the 3 year warrenty, so it went before it was going to cost me any money. before that ive always had citroen with no major faults, and i considered them reliable. not any more, and i wont be buying another 1!!! french rubbish!!!

Poor l-Noel, having to read this (after starting it himself
We got a -96 ZX 2nd car which hasn't been too bad. It is (well, was) a good drive. When it's gone Mr. and Mrs. GH probably go for an one-car solution, changing the Civic in a new Accord tourer (norwegians are expected to have estate cars...). |

The Focus certainly looks bland inside and out compared to the Civic.
But so do the BMW 1 series, Audi A3, VW Golf and many other fine cars. The penalty for those startling Civic looks has been paid by thousands of early purchasers, like Topcat. I'm sure she'll now have the compensation of the superior ride, handling and driving refinement of the Focus. And no matter how obliging her Honda dealer's, I'm sure she won't be missing seeing their friendly faces every week. |

Made the right choice 18 months ago. The only regret is not getting Millie earlier. ......and that wasn't possible 'cos the i-Shift didn't come out 'til May of '06.
