That's a bit of a change from a civic.

Whilst it is not a car I would go for, I am sure it is very nice to drive. Good luck with it.

Is there and vacancies at your depot, as the pay must be good to afford to run a BMW 7 series

Nearly £100 to fill the tank

Nice car mate, any prob's gimme a PM, I'm a bit of BM nut (I love the 7 sereis and almost bought myself one instead of the Civ (but the last model not the one you have)). Beautiful engine, very smooth, should also be very quiet on the motorway. The only thing I've had with my BM's are:

Don't store your parking change in the centre console, it'll set the alrm off constantly

&

If you feel power is going from the engine or it takes a few turns to start get it diagnosed, it is often a sensor, and is fairly cheap nad quick to fix (for a BMW), but it'll knacker the engine if left unchecked.

Other than that it's a very sweet engine.

Good luck and enjoy it mate (I still miss my 5 series ).

Nice comment about the wiper...I hope you're reading this Charles!

Sure enough he's got a Bemmer and he doesn't need a wiper.

......and that proves what do you reckon?

Havent missed or needed rear wiper on civic or previous accord so won't be any different on bmw. But each to their own!!!!

So to answer your question it proves that not everyone requires a rear wiper!!

Thumbs up Eddie

Hi - and yes it's goodbye.
I have had trouble sending this post, but here goes again.
Bought a new Civic ES 1.8 last may and my initial satisfaction has gradually turned to dust. I know the v-tec needs to be pushed up the gears to achieve decent results, but apart from that, the Civic concept is brilliant, spoiled by a cheap feel to the car, with no soundproofing to speak of and it's not a cheap car to run.
Petrol consumption remains stubbournly below 30mpg unless I drive in stocking soles and to push through the gears makes it very thirsty, so I have had enough. Even 'Which' magazine has given the new Civic the thumbs down and they get feed back UK wide, so they know what they are saying. I have now traded in for a Volkswagen Jetta 140hp diesel and the difference is dramatic in over-all quality - even the radio is vastly superior and the build is chunky and solid. As for acceleration - the torque is fantastic with the bonus of 51mpg.
My feeling is that Honda produced an exceptional ground breaking design, but for reasons probably based on cost, cut too many corners to just get it up and running to pay for research & development. The best price I could get for my Civic was £12400 and it cost £16000 last May, but I am now a happy motorist in my Jetta. So come on Honda, you have the design - all it needs is German quality build.
I will be interested to see what response I get from your 'Civic amenities'

Sorry it did not work out for you with the Civic.

I have to agree that the lack of quality feel in some areas like the outer front door handles is what made me hesitate at all on buying the Civic, not to mention that one of the demo cars I drove had a dash so full of scratches it looked 20 years old.

Unfortunatly German build quality has gone down hill too, at least for some manufacturers, which is why I did not buy an A-class...

But I know what you mean, my old 92 Merc still feel more solid than the Civic. But it uses twice the ammount of petrol.

All I can say is you must have a different car to me. My May 07 ES I-shift is brilliant in that it`s performance is great, fuel consumption since we have had is an overall 38 mpg (accurate logged Figure ). It has been totally reliable and great fun and a joy to own.
To compare a diesel`s torque and mpg to petrol is I feel pointless because if that what you wanted then I would of thought that a Civic diesel would have been more appropriate at the time of purchase.
The other point I would make that if you are going to change a new car in it`s first year (any car) of course you are going to have high depreciation and lastly to go by what Which says taken in or out of context to justify your own action is to me quite amusing as I prefer to make my own mind up.
Still good luck to you and I hope you have good luck with your VW but remember if you change that within a year you will have just as high depreciation as you have just experienced.

ditto - sorry it didn't work out

definately some design issues with the Civ, in terms of durability, although at least the '07 onwards seem to have most of the bugs ironed out

you should have gone for a diesel Civic though

very best of luck with the Jetta

Hi FWH,
I installed Dynamat into my front doors to improve the speaker sound quality once I had replaced them.
But they made a dramatic difference to the sound quality of the front doors themselves, when closed they sound far more solid and shut with a thud and not a clunk.
Even the outer door handles when operated sound solid as the noise does not ricochet round the doors.I really was impressed and would have fitted it for that alone if I had know the difference it made.
Back doors next when I replace the cheap crappy speakers in the back door.

Hi Jazzman,
Glad to hear that you are a happy Bunny in your Civic and long may it continue. The diesel Civic is overpriced (in my opinion), which is why I opted for the petrol version. I have driven Audi's and Volkswagens for the last 10 years and only Honda's consistently top of the 'Which' reliability tables for the last few years swayed me to go Civic, but I broke my golden rule - I didn't wait until 'Which' magazine tested the new Civic. Incidentally, I base all my purchases on 'Which' as it is the only source of impartial consumer advice and they are never wrong. Their Civic test was based on 410 owners filling in questionairs, so if you can dismiss that sort of data against your 'intuition' then good luck. When you visit this website on a regular basis, it only confirms the common faults found, such as fuel system faults, steering and suspension. Trade in within a year is painful, but a lesser pain than keeping the Civic. I honestly wish you well with yours.

Well 410 is a tiny percentage of owners so that cant exactly be a proven test. More people were surveyed just on this forum than what which reports so that tells you something.

Plus you will find alot of people on forums reporting problems as that is a place people go for help. Youll find just as many problems on Mercesdes, audi, bmw etc etc forums as on here.

That is true, I must admit I only had two faults with my 5 and 1 recurring one and 1 tiny fault with my 3, yet go on the forums and you'd think the world was ending. THe Civ' wins for annoying creaks though .

Perspective

There are a lot of manufacturers out there who are envious of the amount of faults on Honda's, and I mean some top marque ones at that!

I worked for one and believe me they had many more problems than Honda.

I know some people here think the world is about to end because of the niggles on their "perfect" cars but if you could spend a day in the world of other manufactures I think this would put things into perspective.

Dealers.
Most are great and believe me they actually want to help you it's just some are better than others at that, be it technically or personally.

I have worked as a technical service advisor for a top marque manufacturer and really consider myself as a helpfull person and have been told that by many customers but as soon as someone came in and after introducing myself gave me both barrels and sometimes made it personal they don't seem to realise that I would do what I'm oblidged to do and not what I actually could have done.

Sadly being human after so much abuse we/they start to see customers as problems not as people often the way people see dealers and their staff!

These people are human, give them a chance, from my experience in most cases people mirror people,if you meet someone grumpy and unhelpful that's exactly what you'll get back and the same can be said for the opposite!
