It' gone! What a dreadful car!
My Civic has finally gone
18 months of things falling off, constant rattles and very poor dealer service are now behind me. Originally tempted by the good looks and hi tech spec, but after six months it became the car from hell. Oh well lesson learned - Never another british built Honda! Still will visit the forum now and again - some great people on here |

Sorry that you didn't get on with your Space Ship.
You are not alone there as can be seen from some of these posts. Charlie's been lucky though. I'm still feeling the excitment of day one of ownership everytime Millie heads out to the road! "I started out with nothing. ......and I've still got most of it left!" |

Surprising how different builds perform.
Since having mine serviced it's going like a dream. No rattles i-shift, whilst not perfect is better No other faults to report |

Bog, I know exactly how you feel. Even without the problems this is car just isn't quite right. I'd swap to an Auris tomorrow if I could but I've got to get another four years out of the Civic.

I have got an auris among others and must say the fit and paint finish is second to none considering its built in morroco but it is a safe car by that i mean almost bombproof but its got no style it would not stand out in a sty of ugly pigs...... but i bought it for just the reason that it will hold its value and give very little if any trouble at all ....good car no style ...ON A STEEL HORSE I RIDE

One of the reason for getting rid of it is I have just started doing some consultancy work in London, so I will be doing the daily commute on the tube for the next year or so.
We had two cars, my Civic and my wifes Feista, which were both bought together new. It seemed pointless (and a waste of money) having two cars when would be sitting on the drive all week doing nothing. Seeing as we have two young children, the logical thing to do would have been to keep the Civic as it is bigger, but my wife hated the Civic. She did not like it's looks, un-reliability and poor rear visibilaty. The Feista is cheap to run and to date has had not one problem. We may trade it in for a new Focus in 6-8 months when the Feista is two years old. Last edited by Bog; 15th March 2008 at 19:04. |

Have spent sometime driving my wife's 56 plate 1.2 Fiesta over the past couple of weeks, I now realise how bad the Civic was!
Unlike the Civic, the Feista is is quiter - less engine and road noise, especially on the motorway (The Civic's cabin noise was very loud and tiring!) It handles much better, feels more sure footed and the ride is smoother (Ok I accept the may be down to the lack of 17" wheels) NO rattles and the feeling something is going to break. And best of all....... an MP3 socket as standard. Ok comparing a Feista to a Civic is flawed, but it does hightlight the fact that if Ford can make the driving experience of it's entry level car that good (TC the Focus must be great if the Feista is anything to go on!), it does IMHO make the Civic look over hyped! |

Sorry it didn't work for you Bog,
I understand your feelings because I've had the same experience with my previous car. And I'm not ready to buy the same brand again. But, since two weeks I drive my wife car, a nice small Daihatsu Trevis, because I'm working at 5 km from home in town and my wife drive the civic because she has 30 Km to drive on a main road... But I miss my civic so much ! I agree with you it's not the perfect car, and yes it has a firm ride (It's Ok in France because of our good raods) the fitting of the inside is not at the top level (but the same level as other european manufacturer) early production have real fiability concern and the car was not designed without flaws (fuel filler, handbrake), but for me it is a car like no other. My problem will be what to buy in 4 years when it will be time to change ? If Honda succeed to keep the design and improve the general quality it will be with no doubt a 9th gen Civic !
