Just to add some personal opinion,
In France yet VW is the Reference in terme of automotive industry. When you read an article about a new french car it is always in term of comparison with an VW product. But for me VW cars are so dull ! and new french car too (exept maybe some Citroën models. Maybe that's why the new Toyota Auris is so depressing, because it was designed in France ? |

What is this sad thing about people called EDDIE who unjustly slag off Civics after 3 months. They either display a total lack of knowledge about cars or they are planted by the German motor industry. What they don`t seem to realise that they are talking to us lot that love our spaceships and appreciate and enjoy them
So I say it`s their loss and our gain |

I took a test drive in a Citroen C4 Coupe (the hot one).
My wife wouldn't have it, as she told me and the dealer - it looked like a conservatory had been bolted on the back. |

I took a test drive in a C4 as well, the gear box was like mush, the handbrake is on the wrong side and the door handle stuck open when I got in.
I took the test drive and just walked away. |

The civic - all right, you can feel the stiff rear axle, but it somehow it is wonderful fun to drive. Can't explain it. As for Toyota: I was broken by a '88 corolla (in 1989) and have still not recovered. Good night. |

I considered an Octavia but again, too dull.
I don't care what a car looks like on the outside because I spend my time inside it so I want some entertainment and toys to play with which the Civic has in droves. In last weeks Auto Express 2008 owner car survey the Civic beat the Golf and the C4 (and the 1 series) by quite a considerable margin. If the Civic had a better suspension setup it may have come 1st ? |

For your sake I hope you've gone for petrol and not the diesel, otherwise your neighbours will think you've bought a dodgy transit when they hear it!

Coming from a A3 (golf in posh frock) to a civic, they are totally different cars. The A3 is well screwed together but very boring, whereas the civic has a few rattles, but is so enjoyable to drive. The 2.0tdi engine in the A3 is so coarse compared to the civic.
The A3 was well built but during the 3 years I had them I had several problems, both electrical and Mechanical, in fact I had an exchange car from Audi as the Ex-demo I purchased was so riddled with faults! That was the one good thing with Audi, as I brought an ex-demo with 8K on the clock, had problems, and ended up being given a new car in exchange with no cost to myself, I was even given the choice of spec I wanted on the replacement. |

You'll get over it
Never mind Eddie, you'll get over it.
My Civic is great and three weeks of dealing with useless Toyota dealers and a junk heap of a 2008 Yaris that my wife bought makes me appreciate the whole Honda experience even more! |

Mine hasn't got any rattles !
Funny thing was that my Lexus IS200 did, one from the top of the left side of the dash that I never did find and one from behind the radio somewhere. The dealer wanted to strip out the complete dash and rebuild it but I didn't take them up on it, seemed a tad severe to me and may have introduced more or different rattles. The Civic came 15th in the recent Auto Express user survey which says it all really as all the other cars mentioned (apart from the Octavia) came lower. The C4's results were right down the pan, and yet I can remember when the C4 first came out the journo's reckoned it was far better built than all previous models - not according to the owners ! |
