Goodbye Type R

I am getting rid of the worst car I have ever owned.

The paintwork is the worst aspect as far as I am concerned and despite repeatedly complaining to the dealer and Honda UK I have not received satisfaction.

Honda Customer Don't Care Department is appalling in the way it deals with problems.

A change of slogan from 'No Racing No Honda' to 'No Customers No Honda' might focus their attitude.

Why waste millions of pounds on a couple of no-hopers driving in Formula 1. Customers should be the first priority.

However, I must say I have enjoyed the comments on this forum.

I am replacing the Type R with a Pirelli Golf GTi which some people might regard as boring.

I think VW's paintwork is a bit suspect aswell. And their customer service is a bit crap. And VW's is a poor mans Audi. But goodluck with your new car! To me Honda rules!!!!!!!

I'm in the same boat. Poor paint and poor honda cusr service.

Not to mention things breaking and the local dealer putting a big scratch on my door.

So I bought a Focus ST-3 and love it!

Seems like we are a growing bunch of people all over the world that have changed due to lack of quality.

One unhappy customer spreads the words to 20-100 others.
One happy customer spreads the words to 1-5 people.
Something to think about for Honda!

I have myself talked a couple of people out of buying the civic, they will buy the new Mazda3 och the (ugly) Toyota Auris instead.

Sorry to hear about the problem you had with your CTR.

I was talking to a guy who has a new merc yesterday, about 3 months old and he was scathing of the paint quality on it. Apparently he has numerous stone chips already!

I wish you good look with the new car - you must tell what it's like, though

Thanks for all the comments.

In response to ChillTypeR the paint finish was my only problem.

It's a shame that Honda engineering is spoilt by the lack of attention to the paint quality.

If I had experienced some of the other well known faults I would have been really annoyed.

Please be courteous if you see a Black Pirelli Golf in your mirrors and let me past.

I received an email a couple of weeks ago from HUK relating to a dealer complaint and how customers show their dissatisfaction on forums like this one. They stated that they monitor all forums; so without being in any way rude WAKE UP HONDA YOU HAVE A LOT OF DISSATISFIED CUSTOMERS WHO NEED TO KNOW YOU ARE PUTTING THINGS RIGHT

And the F1 results show that if you don't look after the drivers............ IMO they may well leave, just like your disgruntled customers

Sorry to hear you're giving up the Type-R but I can underdstand your frustration.
No matter how well any of us look after our Civics we can do damn all about the stone chips. Honda couldn't care less, they deliver the car with perfect paint and so as far as they're concerned any damage to it after that is down to the driver. It won't affect primary sales but it will certainly make people think twice about returning to not only the Civic but Honda as a whole!
Something as basic as painting a car should be done properly, there are no excuses for it!!

This is my second NHB Civic and they have both been full of stone chips. I have had a number of visits from my local Chipsaway guy who has readily admitted that the civics he has worked on all seem to suffer unusually with stone chips, even after admitting that Chipsaway are lready familiar with these water based finishes.
What really peed me off was I went to see a mate on Friday who now owns my 2005 Mazda 3 Sport, and he has only got 2 chips on that car
I love my Hawk but the paintwork has really put a downer on my opinion about this car. Go to your local dealer, you'll see plenty of chips on Civics
