Civic going for the second time

Was going to part exchange the Civic when I bought the BMW 330D but instead my wife thought it would be prudent to keep it and get rid of her older BMW 320. Well after 5 months she has now decided that the Civic is not for her so we have just part exchanged it for a 2008 Skoda Octavia VRS 2.0 T FSI. which we pick up on Wednesday
The VRS is loaded with goodies - Sat Nav - front & rear parking sensors - xenon lights - 18" alloys - auto dimming rear mirror - cruise control - full closure system. Must admit that we have never considered a Skoda before but must say I was really impressed with the whole package.

Nice car, Dave

We have had a Skoda Fabia for the last 4 years and never had any real trouble with it. Skoda's are great cars at realistic prices. I am sure you will be very happy.

Is it the updated model?

Yes it was updated in 2005, I think there is another updated Octavia due out now, but I don't think it includes the VRS

Octavia certainly on my list in 2010 when I'm up for renewal. Great car. Enjoy.

I've read some great reports about the Octavia as a friend of mine is currently looking to buy one. Good choice Dave.

Octacia was on my father's list when he was seeking for car. But 1st was mabe by VAG (he had some tragic experiences in the [ast) and 2nd he was always a honda fan and therefore Accord won over Ovtavia. An he never regret it.

Just chopped in my vRS for a civic and I am missing the skoda. Better build quality, more go and better handling.

I don't miss the 34mpg and 1 litre of oil every 2000 miles thou.

Nothing, that is normal for the 2 litre TFSI engine.

Dunno why but for some strange reason i thought you were meaning a Fabia vRS. Doh!!

Anyways, that is a shocking amount of oil for a petrol engine to use. My Golf diesel used just over 1 litre per 10k miles.

That quote alone should ring alarm bell with Honda, Skoda is the bargain range of the VAG group, Honda is considered a premium car manufacturer, you should not feel like you are moving backwards quality wise when you swap from a Skoda to an equivalent size Honda. I know Skoda are an excellent package now and I nearly bought a Fabia VRs when i bought my last car, and I regret not doing so, I would have a healthier bank balance if I had. Although there must be something wrong with your old car if it was using that amount of oil, surely that cant be considered normal.

Eco display
I think the term 'build quality' is slightly unfair to the peeps on the assembly line at Swindon. They did after all produce a superb previous gen Civic by all accounts.

I still reckon they are doing their best with substandard accountant designed parts.

My brother in law has a Skoda, and its great, my Auntie has the new Skoda and that is also very very good. Finally my brother wants a Skoda!!

Exactly my point, but it shouldnt be, not considering the price of the Civic and Honda's reputation for build quality.

Quite...but they are VAG and if you dont count Seat (Nasty IMO)...they should be built well.
Agree though..Honda always have had a quality reputation. Sadly this Generation Honda falls a little short
