Unsure if I have done the right thing....
I was looking for a car for my wife as her Aygo has been a bit of a nightmare. Whilst looking i saw an advert for a new Mazda 6 that appeared a very good deal, still havent seen the car in the flesh but have done a deal and put down a small deposit. You can imagine my wifes delight that we were looking for a car for her and ended up buying a car for me
![]() . I really like the Civic its great to drive out of the town but a bit harsh and rattly in the town. Still getting this feeling that I may have made a mistake though. Made a tidy profit on the Civic though and that doesnt happen too often on a car. Bought for £7600 in January, traded in for £9150 in October |

The Mazda 6 is a very good car and as all Mazdas..totally reliable
You have made a good choice. The supension on the Civic is its 'achilles heel' IMO When do you get it? |

Forgot to add my thanks to all who have helped during my time with the Civic, a truly excellent forum with many knowlegable members always willing to help each other
. The Mazda 6 forum appears very poor in comparison |

What was wrong with the Aygo??, my GF has one and it's been an excellent car so far. Love to know if there are any problems I should be aware of.

I would say that the Mazda 6 is a great car and a suitable replacement for the Civic. Congratulations on the Mazda and let us know how you get on with it, won't you?

I know someone who almost got a Mazda 6 after his Accord Type-R. A brilliant car the 6. Quite big though! Make sure to tell us how you get on.
Also would like to know about the Aygo |

We got the Aygo 1.4D+ 2006 when it was a year old, for a start it was fine, then after about 1 year we started to get a bad smell of fumes inside the car. The garage had it in many times which was a pain as it is a 75 mile round trip, eventually they found it to be something to do with the injectors, I cant remember exactly what it was. We also had a leak in the boot, the spare tyre well was full of water which got repaired. It also had a water leak in the cabin (a common problem apparently), all the seals were replaced all round the whole car just before it was out of warranty. This problem is still there, if it rains heavily we get a large puddle in the drivers side rear footwell. Our street is on a bit of a camber and this may be making the problem worse, but you should not get water in the cabin regardless. There is also rust bubbles appearing on the roof, never noticed them until I washed it recently but there is about 6 of them over the roof. No rust on any other part of the car. I checked my sisters car as she has an identical car and it had got a rust bubble as well, only 1 though. I have to take it back to the garage to get the paintwork and water leak checked.

My GF has a 2008 Aygo + (petrol), and so far it's been perfect, apart from some idiot driving into her then driving off..... So I'll keep an eye on it, thanks

If my Mazda 3 is anything to go by you have nothing to worry about. Very well built and comfortable even in Sports guise.
Enjoy your new car. |

The Aygo is a very nice looking little car, and does appear well screwed together despite the problems. The small things I find annoying are the digital fuel guage, if you go into the car and the last bar is flashing you dont know if it has just started to flash and you have quite a bit of fuel left or if you are running on fresh air, and the interior lights only come on when the drivers door is opened, not handy trying to put in / take out our small child in the back in darkness.

Sorry not trying to make this into a Toyota Aygo thread, but it looks like the rust on the roof may be a common problem as well with my age of car, hopefully sorted out with the later models but worth keeping an eye on;
Rust Developing On 3 Yr Old Aygo - Toyota Owners Club - Toyota Forum No car is without its problems........... Just had the Mazda dealer on the phone saying the car should be here on the 17th. |

LOL, wasn't me, but I'm damn glad I made her drive that night
That digital fuel gauge is very annoying, (tempted to try and fit a better one.....). And the boot light etc, we bought two Osram "three light" lights that run on battery's and are magnetically stuck in the boot, just tap to turn on, sorted the problem of lights out easily Anyways the Mazda 6 is a great car by all accounts.... I'm tempted to look at Mazda when I trade mine in in the future (although the lure of the Volvo t-5 is calling......... Tom |

Car still not here yet but should be ready for the end of this week according to the salesman. I went to see the same car but in a different colour last night but could not see it very well as it was dark and parked in between other cars. Just not sure I have chosen the right colour. I took non metallic black as all the other colours were £400 extra for the metallic paint, I like black cars and if I had taken a metallic it would of been the metallic black. I just hope I dont regret being tight and not spending the extra money.

Well I picked up the Mazda yesterday, initial impressions are very good. Obviously very different from the Civic both outside and inside. Despite the Mazda being more powerful the Civic felt a good bit faster especially around town. But the difference in ride comfort and the solid feel is like light and day from my Civic even with the 18" alloys on the Mazda, although you do still get a bit of tyre roar with 18's. Mazda is very boring inside compared to the Civic but feel better put together. No pictures as if I go outside today there is a good chance I will drown, it is absolutley pelting down.
