Im the same with you there with both the Focus and the Civic, but I have to admit the Type R is a far better looking car than the ST.

I have had two Focus, both 2.0, a zetec and a ghia. Nothing wrong with either but the finish is so much better in the Civic. I sort of drifted to the focus as we had mondeos before - the looks of the focus were 'sharp' and different when it was first released but is so bland now.

Get a civic - you know it makes sense!!!!!!!

I'm just going to assume Mark was intoxicated and this was all a big joke. (although not a funny one).

Sorry CP, I was and am still 100% sober.......I really wasn't execting so much advice.....albeit quite a lot biased (to be expected I guess).......!!!!!!

BTW, anyone know the current waiting time on a Type R?? I've been quoted 8-10 weeks for an ST-3 in the spec I would like......

It's probably fairly similar for the R, again I guess it depends on what spec you want, maybe 10-12 weeks, going by the 5 door waiting time.

Type-R is by far the better car in my opinion. But you should test drive them both and see which you prefer. At the end of the day you have to live with it :P

For me the Type-R is:
1. Has the best engine out of the hot hatches
2. Is the most fun to drive
3. Best looking hot hatch
4. Love the interior

Im sure there is more but I am tired.

My CTR took 7 weeks to arrive. But depends on the dealer as each dealership is only allocated so many CTRs. Try a few to get the best delivery time.

Nice one CP, those pics really speak volumes......the interior shots REALLY do tell a story don't they?!........

I think I'm gonna have to book a test drive in both, as suggested by a couple of members.

As the Type R hasn't been out that long, I'm guessing that it's unlikely I'm going to find an ex-demo one for sale just yet, right?? (Thus voiding the 10 (!!??!!) week wait)

As for the other photos, I certainly wouldn't go for THAT orange colour, as -

1. It's by far the most common colour for ST's
2. I think ford charging over £600 for some paint is daylight robbery

So my choice would be 'Ice White', with the 'ST' side stripes, as I've never actually seen a white one on the road.

Please note : I said SIDE stripes, NOT the bonnet, roof and rear stripes......I'm not THAT chav you know!!!!!!

Was talking to a dealer last week about their type R demo and was told "every car is for sale " not that I could afford it

The wheels on that Focus are possibly the ugliest I've seen, and even with the touch screen sat nav the interior is bland by Civic standards.

If I'd never seen the civic I have to admit I would've gone for another Focus (not an ST this time though) even with the problems I had with the last one. But once I saw the civic nothing else compared!

I would expect the car that Tiff drove on Fifth Gear is probably going cheap as a demo if you want to risk it

If Honda would make the wheels on that Yellow CTR an option, the balance would go over to the CTR even more then it already is.
And talking about better looking, the Orange on the ST might be something no everyone would choose. But if you like extraordinary colors, the yellow on the CTR is by far the better choice. Too bad they don't do a yellow CTR though.

So all I'm saying might be true, but completely useless and unrealistic.
But the CTR is still the better choice.

I picked the yellow because it was more extreme, showed off the differences better!

Personal choice Mark, drive them both, but you know which one we prefer!

p.s speak to Dawson, he recently converted from an ST!

why would anyone ever consider a Ford (even if it is a Focus ST) over a Honda? (especially a TypeR)

Money? The Civics are relatively expensive.

And because my damn leasing company says the Type R is an extreme sports car while the Ford is just a GT. So I'm now having to make a hard choice between the two. Both are very rare here though and if I have to take the Ford it will be in Electric Orange. I agree on the feeling of interior quality being far higher in the Honda, though for me the seats were much better in the Ford (more leg support, longer seat cushion)
Steering and turn in much better in the Honda but low down torque very nice in the Ford...

I have been a performance Vauxhall buyer for the last ten years
Then decided to try something diferent
Tried the following Marques :
Renault - poor cabins
Seat - Even worse
Vauxhall(again)- power too off/ on
Ford - No thank you
Honda - Pick the baby up tommorrow
Just look at the interior that will be enough to sell it to you - nothing compares
On other forums they talk about power - power - power
When buying a car it comes down to more than that ! The whole package is what counts
You've got to love th whole experience - Thats HONDA for you!
