Hi everyone,

Believe it or not, I sold my Civic today!!!!!

It's gone!!!!

I'm now fully ready to move back to the UK on Saturday, and one of the first things I'm gonna do is put my order in for a new car!!!!

Trouble is, I'm trying really, really hard to resist a Focus ST-3.....but it's bloody hard work!!!

Type R's seem to be so much more cash than you can get an ST for.......I really don't know what to do.....??

Someone help me snap out of it!!!!!

You'll probably spend more time inside your car than outside looking at it. The interior of the Civ is far, far better.

Instead, if you spend more time out of your car, looking at it, the exterior of the Civ is far, far better.

Driving them - is there much in it? I don't know. Only ever looked at a Focus - that's been enough to put me off. Very bland.

Before I even drove the new Civic, I had to smile just thinking about it. Once I'd driven it... we all know the rest...

Ford = Found On Rubbish Dump

To be fair there's nothing much wrong with Fords, but when comparing them to a Honda the difference in build quality is huge. My wife has a SportKa which goes fine, but there is just no comparison in quality between my Honda and her Ford.

If you were buying a TV, Sony is far better quality than Sanyo (for example), so they're more expensive. That's what you're paying for. Get another Honda!

The Civic is better both inside and out, if it comes down to performance I don't know what to advise, both are broadly similar.

Are you mad? The Type-R wins EVERYTIME!!!!

How many ST-3's have you seen around, compared to how many Type-R's there are. I've seen 4 ST-3's and only 1 Type-R.

Go for the Japanese engineering mate, it wins hands-down everytime and you WON'T regret it...

My Focus ST170 drinks petrol like theres no tomorrow, when you put your foot down you can literally see the fuel gauge go down honestly!

I looked at focus's again the dash is really plasticy and tacky in the new one I dont like it at all!

I have to say though, I am very very disappointed in you Mark. You'll impress more in your new job with a R. The ST would bring the force into disrepute.

Before I got my Type-R I simply couldn't imagine getting anything else then a Honda. No matter how hard I tried. Been driving them for 10 years.

And now I have gotten a Type-R, trying to imagine getting something else has even gotten harder. There's not a single doubt in my mind I made the right choice, if you call it a choice anyway.

Even if I would win 15 million in a lottery, I would still get me a CTR and an S2000. So at least I would have 2 cars that do work when the Ferrari and the DB9 are broken once again

I you like the way the ST looks more then the CTR, get the ST. But if you think they look equally, get the CTR.

Don't listen to that lot they are all biased.

The saying goes "if in doubt don't do it" so test drive them both before rushing into anything and way up the pros and cons

Also I had loads of problems with my current Focus when I first got it

The tracking was out which I kept informing the dealer of and they did nothing resulting in new tyres

The Air Con didnt work properly

The engine management light came on after anything more than a 15 minute run - this was never fixed by ford I had to take it to a local garage after taking it to ford about 5 or 6 times

Once when I got it back the bonnet didnt close properly when I looked there was a pipe or hose of some description left under the bonnet along with a couple of tools

The washer thingy for the headlights leaked resulting in no washer fluid every day, when I took it to ford they denied it was leaking even though the workshop floor was flooded "thats not from your car" they said LOL It still sometimes comes loose and we have to scramble about on the floor to push it back

The nice leather bit around the handbrake was never secured and everytime they fixed it for me it popped back out, I fixed it myself in the end.

I'm sure there are more I will think of

See it's not just Honda that have problems

See it's not just Honda that have problems

Sounds just like a Honda to me

My aunt asked me the other day why there aren't many civics on the road, I told her thats because most of them are in for repair

The Focus ST looks like any other Focus to the untrained eye and we all know its the most common car on the roads.

Whereas the Civic and especially the Type R is completely out on its own. Invest in a real head turner and enjoy it everytime you drive it. Would you really want to buy a Focus and then when a Type R goes past you think "if only...".

Besides, putting the old financial hat on - the Type R will hold its value better.

Its common because its a very good car. I never had a problem with either Focus that I owned.
And I only went to the dealer when they needed servicing. With the Honda, I think its been back about eight times. So its not without its problems.
