Goodbye FN2 - Hello Porche Cayman S
Well its time to say goodbye my friends as I end 7 years of truly fantastic Type R ownership.
I finally bit the bullet today and paid a £2k deposit on a 4 year old Cayman S - 295 Bhp - 6 speed manual - black. I know how much we love our CTRs but even with mine at 229 Bhp (173 lbs/ft), its not even close to the effortless power and delivery of the flat 6 Porche. There was surprisingly less though between the bog standard Cayman and my FN2. Porche Leicester got the sale and included a 2 year full parts and labour warranty which can be extended for £800 / year when it expires. We'll see about that. I pick the car up mid next week. I'm only getting £7k for the FN2 and am leaving the mods on - Porche are fine with that. Whoever buys my FN2 will land a great car. I just cant be bothered to manage the logistics of removing and selling everything for a few hundred quid or selling the car 'as is' privately. One query though. I have the F/pro and wonder if I can sell that on ? I am sure someone said you have to upload the OEM map back into the car's ECU before you can ? If I do that I will ruin the car for sure. I'll still visit this great forum (keep up the good work Andrew !) to see how you are all getting on and may post a review on the Porche if people would find it interesting. My sincere thanks to many of you who have helped and advised me over the years. Take care everyone and enjoy your FN2's. Paul Last edited by Spudwiser; 30th July 2011 at 20:58. |

Considered these in the past but the need for main dealer servicing to keep hold of the residuals put me off.
Need pics please! If you plug the flashpro into the car and your laptop at the same time, open Flashpro manager and unlock the flashpro from the car. That takes off the custom map and means you can then lock the flashpro to another car. If you don't do this it is useless to anyone else. Thanks guys
Will try that Loxy thanks - servicing cost is ok actually - they are every 2 years or 20k miles. Mine has 18 mths to go to next service. Small service is £295 inc. VAT. Big service every 4 years is £495. Was quoted these today and have it in writing from dealer. Am sure Evo and Scooby services are more frequent and more expensive ? |

If you are interested in selling the FlashPro there at least 4 Wanted threads on this forum.
I'm sure you'll enjoy the new car though and not worry yourself in the least! |

lol thanks Ash, only because I'm too tight and not in enough of a rush to buy new! I would actually say to the OP not to sell it though, it should really stay with the car (even if they won't really notice...
Be sure to hang around Paul and write that review once you've become one with the motor.
