Decided against

HI

After a couple of test drives in the Type S (3dr) I have decided against it..don't get me wrong its a lovely car to drive and looks great, however I just can't get my head around the lack of visability..not so much from the rear window, but from the side windows..and I'm not one to just rely on my mirrors when overtaking or joining a slip road, I like to *see* what's coming form the blind spots and with the Type S its not good.

So I'm now looking at the Toyota Auris, not as great to look at but I feel more comfortable with the car.

This site has been informative and I wish you all well with your Civic's

Choice is a wonderful thing. Function over Form or Form over Function?

I like Form and Function and the Civic has bucket loads of both for me!
I've driven cars with much worse blind spots and much worse mirrors.

It's not a perfect world, on balance it is the Civic for me.

When overtaking surely you only have your mirrors and rear view mirror to hand?.By setting my mirrors carefully I don't have blind spots.

Given a choice of the original rear screen or a plain one I would chose plain, however I have got used to it,and it would not deter me from chosing the Civic. The car has so much else going for it;for a 'drivers' car' it's superb, together with the fantastic economy and practicality a winner by a very long mile

I feel that maybe you did not spend enough time aquainting yourself. I have no problems with blind spots.

Let's not put this chap down. He has been polite enough to thank the forum for the information he has gleaned and has been honest enough to set out his reasons for the decision he has made.

Still love my spaceship of course...!

Anthony.

there are some blind spots on the Civ that's true but the mirrors are excellent! I have driven many cars and the mirrors of the Civ are one of the best, really!

You need large mirrors when your visibility is impaired as is the case with the Civic. That is one of my gripes. With all my previous cars I liked to have a glance through the window when joining a main road. It all depends what angle you join the main road at. Nothing is perfect.

I think thre is more to it CP, cos a good driver can adapt to whatever car they are driving!

Perhaps, but like I said, I've never had a problem with the Civic.

I find that I have to get used to each car I get. No problem though, I started off with a high seat position but now it's at it's lowest position.

The front blind spot takes a bit of getting used to, as mentioned on a previous post, put apart from that no problem.

Rear vision doesn't bother me because I always reverse on the mirrors anyway.
