Had my car on the Dyno in Reading(£42.50 Clifford Cox Engieeing www.rollingroadtune.co.uk) yesterday in the 1 st stage of the remap. 157 bhp at 5333rpm(rpm does'nt sound right) & 291 lbft at 2366 rpm.
Next stage is a 12,500 mile service(£195) then hopefully the remap(£375). Then back to the dyno for the results PS he said stay away from Superchips they take it form near the top & stick it near the bottom so it "feels quicker". his words not mine. PPS mileage now is 10700 so will be after Xmas if I have any money left |

Beware false prophets

Did they actually do anything apart from dyno the car to set a benchmark for any increase they might achieve with a re-map? CIVHEAD wrote:...157 bhp at 5333rpm (rpm does'nt sound right) & 291 lbft at 2366 rpm. You are right to be uneasy about the rpm figure and the torque is equally unbelievable. I presume you're reading the figures from a graph of the dyno run? If so, the the operative made a mistake in setting things up. I'd ask for a re-run or my money back. One other thing to be aware of is that different makes and different types of dyno - even when operated correctly - will give different figures with the same vehicle. The dyno is a comparative tool only and only of any real value if the same dyno is (correctly) used each time. Happy tweaking. TG |

Another dollop sir?

With lots of Torque in the mid range (and even some extra down as low as 1000rpm) acceleration is far quicker than if you have to wait until the motor spins up to some unrealistic revs. A smooth and tractable motor with big dollops of mid range torque every time please. This is what you already have in the diesel and why it will out accelerate / easily stay with more powerful (petrol!) cars. |

Hi, new to this forum today.
Have had a Civic 2.2 since April 06 using my company car allowance, great car but after coming from a Subaru im wanting that bit more torque and for it to continue up through the rev range as much as possible). Just wondering when you guys are looking at doing the group buy on the Celtic remap, also the thread mentioned earlier that they would come to your door to install it (is that including this group buy or do we all have to go there at same time), its just that its one hell of a long trip form N.E. Scotland down to Celtic tuning! Last edited by Smiler AS; 6th December 2006 at 11:19. |

Hi Smiler,
Welcome to the forum. I'm looking to get my car done by Celtic Tuning either next week or the first week in January. My car is going into the dealer tomorrow to get a few issues sorted out and if all is well and they don't need to order any parts then I'm going to ring Celtic Tuning to see if they can do it for me next week. They provide a mobile service so I assume that they will cover anywhere in England, Wales and Scotland. However, I guess that in order to keep their travelling costs down, they will try to arrange to do a number of jobs in a similar area. Being as you are "out in the sticks", I think that the best thing for you to do is to give them a ring and quote this forum and see what they suggest. Good luck, Steve |

Have there been any side effects? Extra noise, exhaust smoke, flat spots, narrower power band? Reduced fuel economy now that the map has settled? The dealer I was talking today told me that they had purchased equipment to remap customers cars at a cost of £400-500 (undecided just now) and that the standard Honda Warranty would remain. I've no idea what map they'd be using, but it sounds like a convenient option if they'll honour the warranty in the event of anything going pop. |

Hmmm.. Not sure how many miles i've done. Probably 1000+. No extra noise, no smoke, no flat spots. There's a definite power band "over and above standard" that comes in at approx 2750 rpm.
As for fuel economy, it's a tough one to judge because I've been driving like a crazed fool since I had the remap done! It's so much more fun than standard! Hypothetically, if I were to drive "sensibly", I'm sure that I could get the same fuel economy that I had previously. However, it's not going to happen so the question will always remain hypothetical. Damian |

0-60 is limited by the gearing of the car, first and second are too low geared, but 3rd-6th you really feel the extra pull from 2750 rpm. It will spin it's wheels in 2nd & 3rd if you catch it right. Top speed is also limited by the final gear ratio, and I've chickened out before it stops pulling (believe me, I'm NOT going to say at what speed that was!) D |
