Light at the end of the tunnel

Just spoke to Pipercross, they're expecting the tooling to arrive this week and production will commence very soon after. I'm expecting a week or two from today, so end of April, 1st week May seems reasonable.

Yeh come on peoples!
I think it'd be a safe call that we all want these as soon as!

Just an idea Javorb, but would it be worth doing a similar thing as when we were gathering names for the order i.e. have a list of everyone's names who's ordered and just put a "SOLD" label next to them so we can harrass everyone else to pay!?

payment

thats fine ,but if you pay by paypal it takes 5-7 days for it to get to my bank account and with it being a group buy the filters will be despatched in one order ,so the quicker everyone pays the quicker we get them as they should be ready in the next 2 weeks.

I'll be happy to step in for Martin but only if I know how this will affect insurance and warranty. And is it easy to fit - I'm no mechanic or electrician!

Can somebody please let me know asap?

I spoke to Pipercross on Friday afternoon. They've received the mould required to make the filter frame, but are now just awaiting a gap in their schedule to make the first filter. I explained that people were wondering what was happening, and they fully understand that we're waiting patiently....

I'm sure that this will happen, there is no way that they'll not make the filters now that they've shelled out £1500 for the moulds! I just don't think it's top priority for them at the moment, as they're doing a lot of OEM development with new car manufacturers that seems to be taking a lot of thier time at the moment.

If I don't hear from Pipercross in the next 2 weeks, I'll give them a call again.

pipercross

i received this email tonight
Hi John,

The sample filter is now out of production and ready to be trial fitted.

Unfortunately the contact details Adam had for the guy from Bedford seem to be incorrect, as the number isn’t recognised. If you’re able to put him back in touch with me or Adam, or find a local car to fit this in, that would be great. As soon as we have confirmation that the filter fits correctly, production car start immediately.

Regards,
pete

THE CHICKEN IS IN THE POT!! I REPEAT, THE CHICKEN IS IN THE POT!!! OVER!

(err, the panel's been fitted... )

Guys, just got back from Pipercross in Northampton. Panel was fitted in approx 30 seconds, a quick chat with James, European Sales Manager and then a brief drive cross-country back to my office in Bedford. (I love working for myself!)

First impressions are REALLY GOOD! The first thing you notice about the panel filter is that it's noticably thinner than the paper filter. Obviously, this is because the paper in the OEM filter is concertina'd to increase it's surface area. Anyway, off the mark the turbo is noticably more vocal due to the open nature of the foam. Pick up seams a tad smoother and the engine would appear to be a bit quieter. I'd say the engine seems to be running more freely with less restriction.

I was surprised how dirty the OEM filter was looking after less than a thousand miles!

Didn't get chance to really plant the accelerator on the way home, but my average MPG started to creep up which was surprising as I'm right at the bottom of the tank. Average with OEM filter was 42.8, average with Pipercross fitted 43.8. Will fill up tonight with Ultimate Diesel (although I do believe that cociane would actually be cheaper nowadays) and will report back next Wednesday ish. I'm taking a long drive from Bedford to the Lake District & back this weekend, so it'll give me time to clock up a few miles and gather a more grounded opinion.

By Wednesday evening, I'll have had the Eibach lowering springs done & rear track widened too!

I think I love my car again.
