Part number required for boot not opening isssue
I went to my dealer yesterday, asking whether the lock control module (supposedly located behind the driver's side door panel) could be replaced. As they didn't know the part number, no work was done.
A quote from the boot lock stuck thread: Scorcher said: "I had this problem back in December 06. It apparently was a known fault even then. To resolve it the Dealer had to change a part in the switch controls in the front door. I remember at the time it took a while for the part to arrive. The part required is the latch assembly part No. 72110SMGE01 I only know this because I had to chase Honda UK as my Dealer had problems getting help." Scorcher drive's a 1.4 s. Could you please confirm whether this part will also suit a 2008 Type r? Any additional info you might have on this problem will also be greatly appreciated. My dealer has not run into faulty boot locks thusfar. many thanks! Jeroen This is a problem description from me, in the same boot lock stuck thread: Could you be so kind as to accurately describe the symptoms? I'm not quite sure what you mean by latch assembly (what is this?) but my boot seems to open fine when it wants to. If it is willing To make the story complete: at 16 pm it still opened. At 16.27 pm ,I was at the bank, but the boot refused to open. When I got home about 2 hours later, it opened again. At 21 pm I went for the petrol station but the boot would not open when I left, nor when I got to the station. Normally, a hour of waiting would resolve this, but up to now I haven't been able to get it open... In short: it opens fine, intermittently. Last edited by Jeroen1000; 14th May 2008 at 07:51. Hi, I'm not sure how your dealer can not find the number??? When a dealer enters the chassis number to a car on the their parts catalogue it automatically flags up any outstanding product updates that the car has due. When this happens the window has link to the data sheet explaining the problem cause and solution, including updated part numbers.
Honda's technical site explains the problem is down to the micro switch that controls the boot release inside the drivers do latch is sticking in the locked position, so the boot is latch is not unlocking. There is an updated part available (we have 37 in stock as I type this), with the part number being H72110-SMG-E01. This however is for UK spec cars, I would double check this over in Belgium. Gaz. |

First of all, my apologies for this lenghty reply
On the 12th May - perhaps 13th - I went for a diagnostics but the boot opened up when I got there (no lost trip, I needed to be there). At that point I was told 'we have never come across or heard of this issue'. The Lead technician took my word for it and said he would order the part required. At that point I was pleased to get such service. I also asked him to phone Honda for confirmation as I was fairly sure the lock module was at fault. The week thereafter, I phoned them to get the status on the part. Lead technician said he hadn't ordered it because Honda (Belgium) had also never heard of this matter. On Friday the 23rd at 13pm I stopped by again but the bloody thing opened. I drove round until the fault appeared, stopping every now and then to check the boot status. At that point I had received your fax and went for the dealers. They hooked up the diagnostics tablet but didn't find the lights that were being referred to in the bulletin. I kindly offered them my translation and pointed out what it was in Dutch. The reply I got was quite amusing: 'These lights switch when you use the key'. As to why he didn't show me or try, I'm not sure. I contested his interpretation, very politely, but off came the tablet and I was send away with the promise the part would get ordered this time. At that point I was slightly annoyed and rang a dealership in the Netherlands that provided me with the same document (but in Dutch At that point I was also sure not only Honda UK knew about the issue, but also Honda BE and Honda NL. I drove back to the dealers (5 min. drive so I can keep on top of the matters). What happens next is boomingly amazing: the lead technician pulled out the same document I had to put so much effort into out of a binder. I was already embarrassed having to bother you and your dealership in order to get my car fixed here. Now it is June and the part should arrive this week. I guess parts take 2-3 weeks to arrive. I'm been receiving this kind or treatment for 2 years. I didn't to expect to get A+ service for my used Honda. But I did expect the service to go up if I bought a new car... Conclusion: They are somewhat dishonest with me, and do not put in much effort to get to the bottom of the (any) matter. I'm changing dealership after this is done. I'll just have to drive 45 min farther to get service Again my apologies for the lenghty reply but if you can spare the time, could you check out my other topic? I received my car - apart from a discolored glovebox - with some scuffs in the boot. I'll add pictures of the actual scuffs in the topic which you can find here: Upholstery part numbers required I am wondering whether UK dealerships consider these sort of scuffs a reason to replace the panels?
