I've just had a good look at the spoiler on our CTR, and the boot lid on a showroom 5 door. To be honest, they do look the same and my gut feeling is that it would. Although that is purely my personal opinion, and I can not make any guarantees.

In the interests of exploration could you maybe see how one would fit on? No need to glue etc, just to see if it is possible. Would help a lot of people

CZ - I thought we'd already seen this done? (all be it with double sided tape / glue)

Me and Steve will try one out sometime this week.

Bit of a favour in return required from you all . If the the spoiler fits, is there anyone out there who will defiantly buy one for £340? If so, can you let me know what colour car you have. I don't want to order a spoiler and then be lumbered with it for the rest of eternity

No that isn't including fitting.

Forgot to add that price is for the one that we will use to experiment with, and it is plus VAT and delivery.

oh right I will have to forget that idea as for me its not worth spending that much for just a different shape spoiler.

Ok, the spoiler actually sits on the car perfect. Although the fixings are not the same as the conventional accessory spoiler (nor are the standard CTR fixings). So in order for the spoiler to be secured on to the car you will have to use an adhesive product such as Sikoflex, which in fairness will do the job fine.

Here is the bad news. I've worked out a proper price now, and it's £429 including delivery to any club member who wants one. Remember though, these spoilers only come prepainted in the colours that the CTR is available in. So be prepared to shell out a few more pounds for painting costs should you need to.

Gaz.

Gaz - you are a star sir!

although *cough* £429! Blimey! (thanks Honda* - not!)

* for note - that sarcastic 'thanks' was aimed at Honda, NOT Honda Holdcroft. Holdcroft as ever have not only done us all a huge favour, but also no doubt reduced the Honda price as much as possible

Thanks Gaz,

That has been a great help, I will give this serious thought over the new few days. Is sikoflex a permanent or temporary stick? I mean if I wanted it off the car further down the line would it come off without damaging anything?

Also, any idea if it will fix as intended to a Type-S, being as the chassis appears to be pretty much identical between the 'R' and the 'S'?

Spoiler

Scary price when you consider that I purchased the standard spoiler for £199 delivered.
Maybe through time they will come down in price.
Have to say though that Holdcroft Honda themselves have been excellent to deal with.

CZ, sikoflex is a right pain to work with (I still have it all over my hands from working on my own car at the weekend!!!), it is very adhesive and is more of a permanent solution. Although it will come off with some brute force, I'm not sure what kind of mess it would leave on the nice shiny window hatch panel thingy.

As already said, it'll be fine on a CTS.

Sorry about this - just to clear it up once and for all - does that mean I wouldn't need to glue it to a Type S because the S has the same fixings as the Type R. Or would I still need to get the superglue out?

Cheers!

It's a superglue job on a Type S.
The tailgate is the same as a 5 door Civic
