Had the 2.2 for 3 months and initial impressions worn off. Compared with my old Accord I find the handling "distant". Complete lack of feel from steering. Under-steers a lot then snaps back when throttle is lifted and the brakes are disconcertingly "will they won't they". On the other hand fuel consumption better than others report: 47mpg around town, 57mpg on a long run, more for both if I drive like an old lady. |

Well, actually I don't think they build any Honda in the UK. Assembling them is a better word, imo. The civic is designed and developed in Japan, as far as I know. All they has done is to build a factory in Europe for better to be able to compete on equal terms with their European rivals. In the end, everything is supervised by the bosses at the HQ in Japan. This is all old news, most Japanese carmakers move their production line to Europe or elsewhere in the world, like for instance Nissan. (Sunderland UK) This of course (and unfortunately) due to the constant industrial globalization process. |

Ok sorry, wrong then! Atleast it is designed by two different Japanese (or Japanese born guys, right?) I'm just a bit tired off the lack of faith to their own industry from some people on here. You cannot build anything without faith and willpower. I must admit I'm a bit surprised about the engines. I thought they were built and shipped in one piece from Japan to UK, As the R18A engine is the same for all markets. Again, sorry, after all it is human to fail.. EDIT: Here's a link regarding the R18A engine: http://asia.vtec.net/Engines/R18A/index.html Last edited by amronno; 25th January 2008 at 17:09. |
