How does the Accord compare with the Civic? Have any members any experience of the two cars and the diesel engine in the Accord? Is there any difference? Which is the better car? Thanks

I love my Accord compared to the Civics I have owned. They are different cars aimed at different markets so I guess it depends what you want out of your car.
Have you seen the new Accord? - I think it looks fantastic |

I've had both (petrol).
The Accord is more comfortable but the Civic is easier to park in my garage. The Civic is more versatile with it's load space but the Accord is quieter and smoother (especially the auto box). Must say though, I do like the look of the new Accord; but it can't possibly have such a friendly and interesting forum as the Civic. |

I have both cars (Accord and Civic) and i can say that the Accord is a better built car (sorry fox , but that's the true) . The Civic wins only in design and those Magic seats / cargo space ... but the rest , Accord is superior (better steering feedback ( hydraulic steering ), superior suspension ( front/rear independent double wishbone ) , much much better noise filtration , no rattles , and so on ... it just feels like a more solid, better build car ... just drive both and see what I mean.
For city drivings, the civic does handle better , but outside of the city the Accord is just better . Last edited by dinoc; 26th March 2008 at 21:11. |

I have both accord 2007 type S and civic 3x. I have to say that accord is much stiffer in the road that civic and much more quiet. I am driving with a 180 and 200 kmh and I am only realize the speed when I see the speedo. Civic is much more versilite especially in the city. I find it very hard to park the accord thats why I have choosed the civic instead of the accord. But on highways and long journeys accord is adorable. And when a mercedes or a bmw comes next to me that is more adorable than ever

I saw the new Accord in Geneva a fortnigth ago.
And though I must say I was more concerned by my future Civic, you couldn't help but drool in front of that car. It definitly looks high-end. Building looks perfect (even after more than 1 week on the show - should have seen the Renault Clio Estate : several parts were missing!) I can't really appreciate sedans (much too long for city dwellers) but this one looks good. |

I traded in my 5 year old Accord for a new Civic 1.8ES. Do I miss it ? Well, in some respects, yes, I do. It is just the sheer solid feel of the Accord and its unrelenting comfort on a long journey. Although bigger and heavier it drives itself in many ways and was no problem to drive from Manchester to Paris on one tank of fuel (petrol).
The Civic is a different car. It asks to be driven, asks to be pushed. It sticks on the road round bends where the Accord was harder to keep on an accurate line. The Accord is a big comfortable car that will just 'glide' along quietly. It got to the stage where the Mrs started complaining that it 'stuck out' every time I parked it and that it was an 'old man's car' ( I told her there was a very good reason for that The Civic will be cheaper to run, fun to drive, beautiful to look at and despite the fact that I suspect long runs will not be quite so sumptuous as the Accord (but I am open to finding out differently when it happens) my head realises that most of my driving is local or short distance and the Civic is a clear winner on that score alone. Different cars for different drivers. I loved the five Accords I had over the last 20 years or so but I am thrilled with the Civic so far and hope I will come to develop the same feelings that I had for the Accords, for the moment, I still have the odd pang of regret in letting the last one go Last edited by sallytraffic; 27th March 2008 at 12:34. One thing I'll say, there are as many, if not more, current shape Accords than current shape Civics and I bet their owners' forum has a lot less members.
I feel the Civic evokes more passion than the Accord. The Accord may be technically superior, but once you switch it off, will you always look back at your car and smile?? IMO Big sallon cars, no matter how well proportioned, cannot looks as striking as our beautiful little spaceship. Also in these greener times, there is not enough extra space in an Accord to justify the extra road space and weight. Last edited by alanwalne; 27th March 2008 at 14:22. Reason: grammar |

ST has summed it up well. I retired and went from a Lexus LS430 to an Accord after testing several different makes. The Accord was the closest to the ride comfort in a LS430 than any other car, unless I was paying £0000's more; in which case I may as well kept the Lexus.
Sure the Lexus had the edge for toys and gizmo's etc, none of which I really miss, but at less than half the price the Accord came pretty damn close. Overall the Accord is a very good car. |

If you buy the Accord with sport suspension , there is no way the civic handles better on corners
Also, check the tsxclub.com and acurazine.com for more owners of Accord (aka Acura TSX) |
