Rear diff flush (grinding steering)

At the following mileages, we have had these symptoms:

5,000: Odd "WaaaWaaaaWaaaaWaaaa" noise from the rear when at 60 mph +.

10,000: Nasty steering on roundabouts. The steering weighting would increase and then suddenly decrease, resulting in wonky cornering. There was also a slight grinding from the front at low speeds and high steering angles.

15,000: As above, but worse. The steering is now really odd, and the grinding at low speed really loud and quite worrying.

Turns out it's the rear diff (again). Again? I knew the old CRVs had suffered this, but I thought Honda had fixed it. Apparently not.

The reason for the noise is contaminant in the fluid that lubricates the clutch pack. A quick fluid change under warranty transformed the car back to "like new".

On certain 07 cars the whole diff needs changing:

On most cars a fluid flush or two works well ( like on mine):

An excellent (but US-centric) DIY guide is here:

According to the Honda tech: "they all do it - it's just a matter of time".

Yup. My old 2007 CR-V needed it done once in the 3 yrs that I had it (must have been lucky) but it does seem to be a known problem.

Hhhhhhhmmmm!
Ponders own car twitching from side to side when medium accelerating now and then.
Erratic torque steer....cv joints.....or grit in the diff ?

Diff

Crv went into the garage on Friday for a leaking rear diff
Got a call from the dealer in the afternoon telling me the car needs a new diff ,might get the car back mid to late November well 6 weeks is not bad considering They wanted me to wait 5 months when my first crv needed a engine .

Just noticed a high pitched whining coming from the diff yesterday cruising on a dual carriageway at 50mph.
Thought it was another car until I realised it was mine!
Had it double flushed under warranty at 30k, looks like it needs doing again at 59k.

Wonder what that will cost me?

Quick update, things appear fine. It looks like it was the road surface on that particular stretch causing the noise!
Not happened since.
