Snow Chains for 18" wheels

Like a few others here I had read in the manual that you can't fit snowchains on the 18" wheels fitted on my CRV Ex. This is because of a lack of clearance behind the wheel. Well Thule have developed a snowchain exactly for this wheel type (mine are currently winging their way to Surrey).

This is the Thule K Summit XL K56 19mm. If you go onto the Thule UK website you can see it being fitted in one of their demo videos. Looks extremely simple.........

Cheers England

Why do you need them

My 2010 ES (on 2007-2009 225/65 17" wheels & Conti M&S) has been great oop north in up to 10" of snow

Switch off VSA and have some fun

[QUOTE=Johnnyboxer;770503]Why do you need them

It's for visiting the ski stations in Switzerland and France (mandatory at some unless you have proper winter tyres, with occasional gendarmerie checks).

In the 8 inches of snow here the Dunlop 'm and s' tyres and 4wd have been faultless. I'm sure I'll never need chains in Southern England !!

I'll try the VSA thing tomorrow

We're heading to Val D'Isere via friends in Geneva who I think want to go to Grand Massif. Anyway he was telling me that the gendarmerie were turning back drivers this last weekend who weren't properly equipped. Would be pretty frustrating !
