CRV "Chugging/Misfire"

Hi.My first post here.
I have a 06 CRV 2.2 CTDI.
I have noticed that when travelling at about 25-45mph and with my foot just resting on the accelerator pedal, the engine begins to "chug",a sort of hesitation really.
If i put my foot down further,it dissapears.
Ive also noticed a smell of diesel fumes when parked in traffic.
Not sure if the smell has anything to do with the hesitation, but could something be blocked?
Would like any help please.
Its done 90,000 miles and has a full service history.
Many thanks.
Adrian

EGR? It was a recall. Check with Honda to see if it was replaced.

Hi,

Did you manage to find out what was causing it as mine has started doing it as well, don't have the smell of diesel but the 'misfire' is driving me nuts!

regards

Eco display
It's nearly always the EGR. A good dealer will have you sorted quickly.

I've just realised that this is about a crv, mines a civic but i've just had a mooch around under the bonnet and realised that the air intake (after the filter box) is loose where it connects to the airbox, no matter how hard I push it on and tighten it it just comes loose again!! Grrrr!! I'm guessing it's probably drawing air in, i'm sure that can't be good. Going to get someone to look at it tomorrow and see if it sorts it.

cheers guys.
