Warranty Work Expenses

Hi there

I have owned my CRV for 2 months now and have just put the car in for warranty work - clicking clutch pedal.

I was surprised to be told by the dealer that I had to cover the courtesy car on my insurance. Which my insurers revelled in and charge an additional £30 for 4 days. This will make any future warranty work and servicing an even more costly experience.

This is the first time I have had to insure a courtesy car under my insurance - all the garages I've used in the past (Audi etc) have loaned the car out on their insurance. Something which puzzles me is I believe it is illegal to insure a car on 2 policies - surely the loan car is still on the Honda insurance as well as mine now - so how does that work?

Is this standard practice throughout the Honda dealerships or is it peculiar to this garage only?

I am surprised your insurance company is charging you (direct line have never charged me) Honda dealers are not alone in this practice, Volvo dealers and a great meany others do it to. Never had an issue with it as my insurance company don't make any charge.

Our insurer (diamond at the time) said the same when we had a courtesy car. Think it was £14 for a day or something like that, the Honda dealer was surprised that they would charge us and offered to reimburse me the costs.

Thanks guys - I suppose its just another of those insurance rackets - everyone is probably at it now to claw in as much money as possible. It'll certainly be a question I ask of them next time I evaluate an insurer!

Hope I don't have much more warranty work coming my way!
