Elite's CRV rolling road mapping
What a good morning I had (Sunday).
My CRV has been mapped by RS Tuning since last Dec, but was producing too much torque fron 1800RPM that it had already destroyed a Kevlar clutch. I thought I would see what Elite could do, having studied there maps which bring the power in more progressively. This was my 2nd vist as they had already done a good job in re maping the power curve a couple of weeks ago. Met up with Fahad and David at Elite, on the rolling road again. ![]() The last run on the rollers was done at 12.42, sun was out and air temp was climbing. On this session David paid attention to adjusting fueling on full throttle as it was putting out excessive black smoke! Increasing low torque power, (from his previous adjustments) but still keeping it progressive. He also worked on the part throttle turbo maps to increase fuel efficency further. The rolling road figures were using the base settings, no uplift at all for air temps or 780ft above sea level etc. I noticed that only a 10% uplift was given off the wheel outputs for 4WD, think 15% would have been nearer the mark. My CRV is also 2k off it's next service. I have tried and failed to post up the chart, perhaps Fahad can assist in that as I am hopeless! Anyway the max torque at the wheels was 279.6 ft lbs @ 2550 rpm 270 of it from 2100 - 3250rpm with no turbo overspooling. These adjustments kept the turbo spinning at maximum effeciency 173.8 bhp @ 3700rpm with a gentle fall off to 4000rpm. On driving the car it is more responsive on light throttle, the turbo responds instantly to demand and the drivetrain doesn't feel stressed at low revs. The engine doesn't have any more to give in terms of output, barring a cold day, fresh oil in the sump and a new air filter. I like the strong push that goes strongly on to 4250 which is giving a great range in 5th and 6th gears. Elite figures at 1st glance might appear low, but the way the power goes down on the road tells its own story. They are as concerned about reliability and not stressing the car. David thought my turbo pressure settings were set higher than he liked, but I pointed out that now the turbo stalling had been eradicated there was less stress on the bearings and it was spinning smoother. I reckon engine outputs (15%) are 322lbs ft / 200 bhp, on this road. Excellent results, really impressed with the depth of knowledge these guys have. Do not know the precise figure, but think it is around 16%.
the car runs cleaner than before, and the performance is improved through the gears. I have just done 400miles since sun and am very happy with the adjustment. |

On friday Elite installed the latest software, which they have been developing for some time.
It totally disconnects the EGR valve, and re-configures the ECU. Won't get any more of that sooty gas clogging up the inlet valves! My wife noticed over the W/E that the car seemed smoother and quieter, and I felt it was a touch more responsive on a light throttle. My old map is attached, recorded at 95% of actual wheel output. I can't get over just how the car has been transformed by this EGR mod.
It's so nice to drive, the engine is smoother and it even sounds as if a sound deadening kit been installed. The CTDi unit seems to work with greater efficiency, when you accelerate the torque feels smoother as well as stronger. Which is good news for the transmission! The part throttle settings are now just so nice, it glides forward with hardly any effort! Will be running it on the rollers again in a couple of weeks after the next service, so will be able to get precise figures of the before and after improvements.
