Rear Parking Sensor

One of my central rear parking sensors has developed a fault causing a constant beep. Took it to local dealer and its going to cost me almost £150 to replace it has rusted

The worst part is it has only recently ran out of the 3 year warranty but I have paid for an extended 3 years so thought I would be covered. Not so I am told but under the original warranty I would of been. The extended full Honda warranty I was sold does not cover rusted parts

Try www.hondaoriginalparts.com they may have it cheaper and you can replace it yourself...

Mine is also playing up, although older vehicle to yours (2007). My front nearside was the first to play around and now the rears have joined in too.

On the CRV-OC website a user was able to take the sensor apart and make good a dry solder point, which is what I'm hoping mine will be. The sensors from Honda (and the website above) are approx £110 each, so if I have no success I'll just be doing away with the OEM kit and buying an aftermarket one.

I have booked it in now to get it fitted but will get the original back and have a look at it. The mechanic said he cleaned it up and will be intermittent which it now is. If it is rust why arnt they made from alloy??? He also said he drives an accord and he had a faulty one so disconnected them as they are a known fault

Pretty poor isn't it - you would have thought they'd be a little more tolerant to water ingress than they are...

Let us know how you get on.

When completed I intend to write to Honda and complain about this as I thought my extened warranty would cover it

Eco display
Not only that but I'd also include the fact that the parking sensors would be expected to be "fit for purpose and last a reasonable amount of time". 3 years is not "reasonable" given the expected life of the car; and they are not a consumable part!!

2 years ago I had a set of sensors fitted to my 07 CRV, colour painted and all in for 4 sensors I paid £185. They were supplied and fitted at my local ICE

Anyone ever removed the rear sensors? I had a go at mine earlier as looks like they can be removed without taking the bumper off, but gave up when it felt like I was about to snap something!

I have just emailed the boss Mr Hodgetts about this sensor so lets see what response I get. On inspection of the faulty sensor I cant see any rust and it is a sealed unit making any repair very difficult.

How strange, one of my rear sensors on 07 EX also started playing up recently... Intermittent bleeping which can be really annoying....at least with the camera I can be sure I'm not going to hit anything.

Initially I thought it was dirt that was causing the issue, cleaned it off to find the surface of the sensor has crack-like lines it in.... Which I scraped rather too hard and broke the surface (it's white underneath).... So I assumed I had broken it for good.

However it's been working perfectly with all this wet weather - not a beep out of place! Really really weird....not going to spend 150 on a new own though. A least the rear is not as annoying as a missing front sensor ....that beeps continuously below 20 mph to remind you it's not there...had to spend money on that one!

Well guys a happy ending I received a nice letter yesterday from Phil Dix Manager - Customer Operations. Basically I have received a full refund for the amount to be spent at my local dealer as I wish. Oh and David Hodgetts has been informed of the outcome as he is passionate about Honda owners.

Great service and respect for our opinion I say

Arghh - mine started playing up again today..... it even looks like more of the coating has come off now, not just a scratch now, more like 30% of the surface area has come off.... wonder if the Honda garage had a pick at it yesterday

Madone did Honda give any explanation as to why these sensors don't last for more than a few years?

I've just taken delivery of a 2007 2.2 ES iCTDi (4th consecutive Honda and second CR-V!!) and one of the inner sensors has corroded away (silvery white surface revealed).
It wasn't spotted on PDI so I queried it with the dealer (Gordon's Honda in Bolton).
I'll be honest and say that they have been absolutely excellent in dealing with it so far. I called in for them to confirm that it needed replacing (I live 40 miles or so away) and they ordered me a new one.
As soon as it is in, they have asked me to take it over to be fitted (15 minute job) and as compensation for missing it on PDI, they've offered a tank of diesel!
I am very very happy with Gordon's Honda so far. Providing they deliver on their promises of course
