CR-V i-CTDi :- journeys to work @ 11 miles = 35-40mpg.
Civic i-CTDi :- journeys to work @ 9 miles = 48-52mpg. Wife is driving the Civic though.... I have seen 50mpg on the CR-V on a constant run @ 60mph. Range showed over 600miles. It comes down to 40-42 if you go to > 70 ish... Oil seems to play a big part in the economy though. Ran the Civic on Castrol Edge and managed to get to Ashford in Kent from Central Scotland (500 miles) on less than a tank. Went on the Shuttle and drove through France and range went up to 680 miles and no, this was not km! When the oil was changed again, consumption increased, don't know what was put in, (Mazda dealer in Stirling, part of a bigger group, s**t reputation!) |

I have auto gearbox. Change pads was really necessary at 27 000. Change disks just i wanted to. Gone for green stuff pads and standard disks. Make a big difference. Easy driving around town i normally get about 33 mpg on motorway 43+

You're probably lucky getting as much driving in Malta so you shouldn't complain! I've cleaned egr valve on my civic and that alone also improved my mpg and response in high gears. But in the end driving in traffic always gets you closer to 0mpg.

My 2009 CR-V iCTDI with 18" wheels does between 28 and 35 mpg (8 l/100km and 10 l/100km). When I spoke to the dealer about this I was told that these are to be expected with the 18" wheels and with the 17" wheels would be somewhat less (minimum around 40 mpg). Driving on the freeway at about 90 mph and city traffic short runs. Once I did a few hundreds miles of highway, faster than the cruise control works Ah, AC is always ON... Hi
No news is good news Still the same silence rolling, the same grip as new and aprox. 10.000 miles since I got them and no noticeable difference between rear and front tyres. Good grip on wet and slippery tarmac, and reasonable grip on mud. In retrospective much better than the Dunlops. Best regards luis |

Rico, I think your consumption is normal. On a 12 mile return trip to take the children to school in quite busy traffic my wife averages 30mpg (diesel auto). It's a big car and I think this is normal for the conditions. My mate gets similar in his Audi Q5 diesel 2.0.
If we travel at 65mph on the motorway we get 45mpg. If we travel fully loaded 4 up at 80mph on the motorway we get 33mpg. It's all about the conditions and OK a small petrol car might be better but would you rather drive a CRV or a Clio ?! |

Drive for few miles until your engine is worm than stop and reset your board computer. Drive again for few miles with light right foot and check your avarage mpg than. Even in town driving you'll get about 40+. Ill tried today and ive been very surprised. Until your engine is worm you may use more diesel than you'll fine.

@ England
Clio vs CR-v... Tricky one... Am kidding! I simply love the ride of the latter!!! @ Branik11 I wish my cr-v needs to warm up... In Malta it's still hot & sunny ! (31*C) |

I never pay much attention to MPG as company pays most of it, I just pay my bit and I do have a heavy foot (put it like this, its rare for anyone to be needing me to get out their way) I even put black tape over the green economy light as it annoyed me.
But decided to look how much I am paying for my share and its a lot so I worked out my fuel consumption - using my fuel records. Last month 19mpg !!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Looked back a few more months, typically 20mpg, 30mpg was a 'good' month! ![]() 19mpg from a 2.2 diesel , I am wondering if something is broken? it goes well enough - perhaps too well! What could break and cause it run good but use more fuel (apart from the speed limits ) ?

No it doesn't. Mid twenties is about normal. You should hit mid thirties on extended runs at sensible speeds. You haven't said what kind of driving you do, so it's hard to tell. The 2.0 auto is thirsty. You need to be doing very small yearly mileages for it to make sense. Even then the diesel is a better drive. |

mpg prtrol crv
thanks for the reply,i purchased the car a couple of months now ive give it stick using the box etc making sure the car drives as it should, regarding fuel at the moment i am driving it under 3000rpm around town like an old dear just to see how good/bad it is,but all it seems to do is 21/22mpg,thats setting the computa/dash on and off on different journeys.also tried using the d3 mode on the gearbox to see if there's any difference.
