Jenson Button Sees Light at the End of Honda F1 Tunnel

The wave of preseason optimism continues in Formula One, with Honda’s Jenson Button the latest of last year’s back-markers to say he feels “excited” about the team’s 2008 prospects.
Button managed just six points in last year’s drivers competition, while teammate Rubens Barrichello was shut out of championship points for the first time in his career.

While there was no denying that 2007 was a tough season for the Honda team, Button believes that the year could represent lessons learned.
“It made us realize that a few things needed to change and that we were going in the wrong direction,” Said Button of the 2007 season.
As for this year, Button still has championship aspirations, saying that his “final aim” must be to bring home the title. But the driver also seems to understand that going from nearly worst on the grid to first place will be a long, uphill climb.
Said Button, “It’s improving that’s the key I feel - and for us to improve race-by-race compared to our competitors is what we need to do.”
