I hope I am wrong, but I reckon this could be a classic case of - Salesman wants sale, so tells buyer what buyer wants to hear.

The only thing that I know is that Salespersons (especially car industry) are so full it, I only believe what I see - Failing that I get it in writing. Having been 'stitched' by a Honda salesman in the past fortnight, has only cemented my opinion.

The only good experience I have had with a car dealer is from Lexus. They were absolutely first rate.

When you get the car back, will you poke the fog lights, mine are quite loose when pushed, wonder whether the dealer fit is better than the factory fit?

Thanks for getting back on the ice>link.
I have ordered a Kensington FM transmitter which this site http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/ipo...for-ipod-ipod/
gives an excellent review for.
I will let you know how I get on with this one.

Having said that just seen an article on the same site http://www.ilounge.com/ for an RDS enabled transmitter which enables the car stereo to display song and artist information! Might just have to send the other one back!

See this topic http://www.civinfo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=302. I would suggest that perhaps the 10mm bolts need tightening a little as the fog lights definately should not be loose.

Hi there Honda100,

Just to let you know, before you spend too much on FM transmitters. They will never sound anywhere near as
good as a hard-wired connection (difficult) or anywhere near as good as burning an MP3 disk (which will also give you
artist/track info etc.)

I know, I've tried loads of 'em and compared to a cd they are rubbish. Mainly because the radio reception on the
Civic radio is rubbish anyway.

I've been living with MP3 cd's now for a month or so and the sound is wonderful (after my speaker & sub mods) and
to be honest having 160 track per cd is fine for me. I have about 10 burnt now and they are in the glove box. thats
nearly 2000 songs, easily accessible, with full info display on my screen.

My advice to anyone trying to connect an iPod would be to give up until Dension or Honda or Autoleads come out with a
hard connection. Living with cd's isn't so bad.

cheers
Roger

Roger, can you recommend any good software to burn MP3's, I have been using Nero, but it only transfers track details that exist, so I have a CD with 5 tracks beginning 01 and then some in alphabetical order. Is there anything that will renumber the tracks when you drop them in to the software?

You need to fix the ID3 tags on your MP3s basically. A good tool for doing that would be http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multime...g-Editor.shtml

Roger.
I have done a number of MP3 disks, mostly of the stuff that the wife wants to listen to on long journeys, rather than my own tastes, but really want to get the iPod working again.

It is great to have the whole of my CD collection (400+ and counting) to hand. I have also recorded the tracks for the iPod as 192 AAC which is much better quality to the 128 MP3 that I have for the CDRoms, although using an FM transmitter negates this somewhat. I know that I could rip the whole lot again at a higher bit rate, but don't have the time or the inclination at the moment!

The iTrip is fine around Manchester on 88.0, but going over to Leeds yesterday there was a lot of interference when I got there. No doubt a local station breaking through.

I have 7 days to check out the Kensington due to distance selling regs, so can make my mind up over a couple of longer journeys.

Simon

richierich, you can use MusicMatch to change the tags on MP3 files.
I had to do this to get the tracks to play in the order that they were on the CD rather than in alphabetical order. MusicMatch suggests that the programme will do this automatically, and it will when the CD is played on a PC, but their solution won't work for the Civic. You to preface each track with 01, 02, 03 etc. See this thread:

I can highly recommend this FREE tool for sorting out your MP3 tags:

Thanks Basegreen, please excuse my ignorance, but does this run alongside Nero or do I have to create a copy of the files I want Nero to burn and then edit their whatever tag thing.

I assume you have your MP3 files already? If so, run them through this tool, editing the track names/artists/tracknumbers appropriately, and then you're set to burn.

I have the mp3 files, however, some have just track numbers, some have just names, some have track names and numbers. I am looking to burn a selection of them on to CD for the car, I do not intend to use folders, just have 150 odd tracks on the disc. My problem being if I choose track 1 from all the albums on my laptop it will play them in alphabetical order, I realise this is perhaps a little anal, but I would prefer to have a CD with numbers 1 - 150 when it is in the car, played in the order I put them on the CD. Does that make sense?

When using Nero I can add files in the order I want them, but it does not renumber them, it takes the data from the file in question, then by the power of Honda it screws up the order and plays them in numerical then alphabetical order. I may use this software you mention to tidy up the files so that they are all the same, but would like to have a sequentially numbered compilation mp3 disc.

Then take all 150 mp3 files, and edit the ID3 tag using those tools posted to represent 1 to 150 per your list

Or rather 001 -150 ? Or does it play 1-9 correctly without zeroes in front?

Let me clarify - you aren't renaming the files from say

SClub7 - Reach for the Stars.mp3

to

005 - SClub7 - Reach for the Stars.mp3

You need to be editing the ID3 tag which is embedded info about the track. You do this using those tools. One of the tags inside an Mp3 is the tracknumber (or the track x of y number)
