I was going to change the track number, not the name, however I downloaded the software and can see no way of doing multiple changes, it looks like I need to change every single one seperately, I was hoping to take a playlist and edit the id on all of them to range from 001 to 150. can the software do this, or does anyone know of anything that can.
Also, does the Civic actually use the track number in tag data or does it use the filename? |

HI Richierich,
Sorry for the delay replying. I'd finished work! Firstly I am a Mac user so I use iTunes to organise music and Toast to burn it (see my other post as to why I use toast: http://www.civinfo.com/forum/viewtop...337&highlight= (last message)) The other guy's have provided you with answers though so thanks to them. All my tunes are either from the music store in aac format, which I have to re-rip back to mp3, or ripped in as mp3 for the civic. Honda 100, I'd be really interested to know what you get from the kensington. I know what you mean about having access to your library. I have over 11,000 songs in mine and the one I want to listen to is never on the MP3 disk I just burned! Last iTrip I had was returned because it was awfull. Loads of high pitched interference from the engine etc. Perhaps it was a duff one. Roger |

My iTrip works as advertised, but they are prone to interference and external stations bleeding over the signal. I have an original one which sits on top of the iPod. The most recent ones, including the LCD display models, don't have such a good repuation. I will certainly feedback about the Kensington, but no news from PodZone yet about a shipping date. Simon |

Seems like UK owners are not the only ones suffering on the ipod connection problem - Even in the US where they market the Civic with the connection they seem to have problems. See http://gopetition.co.uk/online/9022.html

My Kensington digital FM transmitter http://us.kensington.com/html/6402.html was delivered today so here is a quick review based on one 20 mile round trip into the centre of Manchester.
The transmitter is very neat and has a blue display which should please those who have lighted footwells. It plugs directly into the cigarette lighter/power socket, although I have mine in a four way extension box which can also accomodate my GPS and phone charger. There is a decent amount of cable which terminates in a socket which plugs into the universal socket on the base of the iPod. This is one of the advantages over the iTrip as it takes the feed direct from the iPod without being filtered through the headphone socket. You also don't have to worry about volume settings as you do with the iTrip. It transmits on any frequency between 88.1 and 107.9. Another major advantage over the iTrip is that you use an up/down rocker switch to find the right frequency and save it on one of the three preset buttons. Much quicker and easier than the iTrip method for changing frequency. For my test I used 88.1 as I know that this frequency is vacant in Greater Manchester. I have to say that I was impressed. The signal strength is definately greater than the iTrip. For instance the iTrip is overwhelmed by static when driving in a multistorey car park, but the Kensington's signal came through lound and clear. The overall experience was very positive. Good stereo separation, clear sound and a decent volume. There is still some static caused by other cars and on certain roads, but no more than I have experience on my car radio Whilst it is certainly not a match for a hard wired solution, or MP3 CD's, I would rate it a very good second and certainly worth the extra money over an iTrip. As always however it depends upon how crowded your radio spectrum is as you have to have a clear frequency to transmit on. |

MP3 on US range
Quote:
I just took delivery on an 06 Hybrid Navi. I can playback MP3 and WMA from both CDs and a PC Card slot right in the Navi Unit. There is the aformentioned IPOD link cable too which is available as an accessory. My car has an aux input (standard from the factory) with a mini jack that allows you to plug in whatever type of MP3 player you like, etc. Downside of the US models: No bluetooth available! |

This is easy with the MFR program I mentioned earlier. I haven't tried it with TagScanner or anything else, but I'm sure there msut be a free program that will do it. BTW, If you have Nero, its ripping facility lets you add a sequence number in front of the filename during the ripping process. I think the Roxio package has something similar. |

If the FM transmitter doesn't work, then I don't think that the sat nav DVD player can do anything much other than be a sat nav DVD player, and also the head unit (in the EX at least) quite happily plays MP3 (and WMA) files anyway? Or has this whole thread gone over my head? (Which wouldn't be surprising |

I thought about that too, imagine how many mp3's you could hold on a dvd!!! Doubt it would work tho. mp3's only on cd i bet!! Otherwise they would sell it as dvd mp3 compatible to make up for the lack of ipod connector. |

I was in a ICE dealers today and he phoned connects2 whilst i was there and he informed me that they had the new civic HU on the bench and are working on a controllable ipod solution from the steering wheel/HU etc, they should have a solution within a month.

The sales guy who sold me my Civic (he is also a mate), assures me that there is a Honda solution on the way. Honda have had lots of requests for an IPOD solution, and are working on it. He was not sure if it would be a simple plug in job like the Jazz, or whether it would allow full control.
Ofcourse, it could be that Honda are spinning him a yarn also. |
