I have read many different Honda webpages (Finland, Sweden Germany, UK), and they say about the loom (2 PIN BUS CORD) that Pottsy ordered, is only required for Civic with Navigation.

Part Number: 08A31-0H6-000.

ONLY FOR CARS WITH FACTORY FITTED NAVIGATION SYSTEM - REQUIRED TO FIT 8CD CHANGER OR ADAPTER FOR iPOD WITH FACTORY FITTED NAVIGATION SYSTEM

When I look at the Sport model accessories, it doesn't mention anything about a 2 PIN BUS CORD needed.

So maybe the picture that Roger Harris chared for us from the back off the HU, the white connector might be for the Navigation, and those who don't have Navigation can connect the Connects2 adapter straight to the white connector?

I have sent a question about it on the Connects2 forum.

I hope that this would be the solution for non Ipod owners that can connect a mp3-player finally to the Civic...

Wait...can I put the Connects2 adaptor (for £59) straight in to my SE without the loom? Or do I still need something to "trick" it in to thinking that a CD Changer is there?

Hi
1st post so hello. Got 2.2 ex on Thursday, changed interior lights, and spent all weekend fitting Icelink FM, all was fine until I needed to identify the ariel coax socket (what gives with this then ?) why not a conventional plug, finally working and everything fine except I wired the permanent and switch live together (to save time???) now the unit resets the frequency every time you switch it on. Anyone know what is permanent live on dash that is easy to get too?.

Does the Connects2 box come with the Honda HU ---> Connects2 cable? It isn't clear on the site?

Yes it comes with the cable, so you can connect the Connects2 adapter to your HU.

I will get my Civic on tuesday and will find a company that will install it for me.

I will tell then if it is working or not...

Had some time this weekend, so I fitted my connects2 aux in to my EX. I took the dash apart as per Pottsy's instructions, it took about 1 hour to do and was relativly simple. The only hard part was getting the trim panel above the HU off.

Once all off, I connected the Honda loom (thanks Chiswick Honda

) and connects2 box.

I then fitted a 3.5 socket to one of the heated seat switch blanks (I chose this location as it keeps my cup holders free and the switch blanks are easy/cheap to replace if I want to remove the socket at a later date). I then soldered a lead to it with another 3.5 stereo socket at the end, which in turn plugs into the connects 2 lead.

I puchased a transmitter from ebay for under £5.00. I think it is manufactured by Belkin? I know that people here say that the quality of sound is not so good as hard wired - but for a fiver - and with me singing along (not nice) and no installation grief - it's fine. I also use a transmitter that just clips over my mobile phone - and again uses one of the radio frequencies to put the call out through the car speakers. That cost me £20 about 2 years ago at the BMF bike show. Both simple and effective.

Just installed my Connects2 aux-in box today and i'm happy to report it is working

I followed the instructions on the WIKI to install the box without the £92 Honda loom. It is really easy - give it a go.

It took me about 3 hours in total (would have been 2 if it was not raining so hard).

I have made a few minor changed to the WIKI to make things a little clearer as I was scratching my head in a few places - should be a little easier now though.

I'm chuffed - Aux-in - £40 -

Basegreen - it's even easier on the SE model - you just plug the connects2 module straight into the Civic head unit.... no chopping wires... no special £92 Honda wiring loom... its just plug and play

Does the CD button not toggle between internal and external CD player? The connects2 is just pretending to be the external changer.

You got it - thats how it works on my EX, you can also press the mode button on the stearing wheel a few times and it toggles FM > FM > AM > MW > CD > Ext CD/Aux-in.

If you mean the Aux channel socket on the HU - its behind the unit and you need to remove the HU first to install the connects2 (see other posts and WIKI), if you mean how do you switch it on once installed.... then see my post above.

Edit: 40 quid from the place pottsy got it from it seems, and to save my sanity, do i need ANYTHING else other than this? Would probably bring the aux cable into the cubby hole under the HU.

Are cables required for the SE HU between the connects2 and the HU?

Nice and quick - and £20 cheaper than Halfords.

You shouldn't need anything else, all the cables you need are in the box and it will plug straight into the external CD socket on the back of your head unit.

I added a simple 3.5mm socket for my unit inside the centre slide compartment (cost me £1.29 from Maplins and 10 minutes to solder) but you don't need to do this - you will see what I mean when you get the box and cables.

Hi Everyone. I have just been on the Honda website and the Type R Brochure shows an iPod adaptor as clear as day!

Is the Navigation unit in the Type R not the same as in the EX model?

I'm considering buying a 2.2 i-CTDi EX at the moment, but the iPod connection problem is putting me off! I had the same problem with my Vauxhall OEM Headunit as my MP3 compatable unit won't take a Connects2 box!

I use a Griffin iTrip at the moment and the quality is shocking at best. I did find some articles on modifying the iTrip to make it transmit further, have not had a go yet!

the iPod lead in the R is the same as the one available for the rest of the range - extreemley limited functionality, espcially for the price
