iphone and Dension Gateway 100 install in EX

Here is a guide on fitting your iphone in your civic using the Dension car kit

Parts:
1. Dension Gateway 100 (GW15HB1) with active cradle £87.99 Chameleon Direct - Search Results

2. Honda Civic “Y” cable £18.44 (this includes shipping from states)
http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=787
3. Brodbit mounting platform £15.99
http://www.incardiscount.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=653733&cat=16783

Install:
Follow Tuckers Guide until step 5 http://www.civinfo.com/wiki/index.php?title=Dension_ice_link
At step 5 remove Sat Nav plug from the AUX socket, insert “Y” cable, then re-connect Sat Nav plug to the “Y” cable and add the Dension plug also to the “Y” cable.

Continue with Tuckers guide until step 8 at this point follow the instructions that came with the Brodbit mounting platform. Secure the Dension cradle and you are done.

very nice indeed and I guess you can see the track names on the screen as they are playing and use the iPhone/iPod touch to select albums etc or does the Dension lock unit lock the iPhone/iPod touch?

When you say screen - do you mean iphone screen?

I just did the exact same install and for some reason my iphone locks when in ipod mode, it says "Accessory attached" and I cannot navigate any of my music (except using the steering controls or radio controls).

Is there something that needs to be done to overcome this?

Thanks
H

iPhone

I have having the same problem. As soon as I plug my iPhone into the Dension unit, and says "Accessory attached" on the screen.

I can navigate out of the iPod function, but not navigate around my music. Is there something I have done wrong, or a problem with the Dension unit?

Cheers

Jamie

This is how you get ipod the ipod interface mode:

- once you have the ipod playing music select Disc 6 by pressing the number 6 on the radio (where you would normally select the radio preset 6)
- use the next track buttons to select track number 2 (on disc 6)
- then hold down the next track button you just used for a few seconds
- the IPOD should go into ipod interface control and you should be able to use the ipod going forward

Good luck
H

Hi Robbie,

I purchased a slighlty different setup to the one mentioned above (all from the same place, so I had it all next day). It is based on the same Gateway 100 adapter so I would imagine you will find they both will charge your iPhone.

When you have it in the cradle and the phone is charging, it doesnt matter that the phone has it's bluetooth on. So using the Civic's bluetooth kit works wonders.

Hope that helps,

Jamie

Hi Jamie,

Cheers for the reply. My problem is that the bluetooth would be on permenantly (i get your point tho that it would be charging when in the car). I dont want to be manually switching the bluetooth on and off when i get in/out of the car.

Hi Robbie,

How long is your battery lasting? I have bluetooth on constantly and have not had a flat battery at all. I must admit, the phone sits on its dock while I am at work so it is charging, then in the car it is charging so it is only the evening/night that it is not charging.

I havent seen any devices that will do what you want at the mo, but to be honest, wasnt really looking for a kit that can handle the hands free also.

If I see anything, I will give you a shout.

Laters

Can anyone confirm what dension items i need to control my iphone from the steering wheel controls.
I presume the Gateway 100, will work to get the music streaming, will i also need the bluetooth adapter for takin n makin calls ?
Do i need any other cables / bits to make this complete, would ideally like the unit to be chargin as i'm drivin.
Any guidance on where best to purchase ?

As far as i can see from the description above-

1)The parts listed above will allow you to control your iphone through the steering wheel.
2)i Assume you would need a bluetooth handsfree kit also (i.e. a parrot device etc)
3)The prices in the orig post seem to be the best just now (google is your friend!!!!)
