How to Make your own floorlights

I have a small circuit here to make your own floorlights.

It will light the floor full power when you open the door.
If you turn on the ignition the floorlights go dim.
( check other threads from me to see how to remove panels and access wiring). You can use standard blue LED's - 1 per side.

Brilliant! Thanks Stef!

This is the Holy Grail of self install ambient lighting - the ability to emulate the Honda fitted lights!

I assume your circuit is basicaly what is in the Honda control box?

Stef,

Quick question.....

If I only wanted the floor lights to come on when the cars lights are on, could I only use one 12v feed? i.e link pin 2 to pin 7 of sk10.

This is great. Do you fancy making one up for me for a fee? Also where are you getting the feeds from? I dont fancy tracing cables too much!

Thanks

The location of the wires is explained here:

Install Homing Lights

It uses the same wires

It is easier to locate a wire that has +12V when the ignition is on (eg sigare lighter..) : connect a blue LED to this point.
You can put 2 blue LED's in series (one left one right) with a 470 ohm resistor is series.

Hi all,
I have had my Type-S for a few weeks now and have fitted auto dimming LED footwell lighting by taping into the interior light circuit. The 12V LEDs illuminate when the doors are unlocked and dim/fade out the same as the interior lights. I can also flick a switch to permanently illuminate the footwells. I will post pics if anyone is interested.
Cost me around £20 without drilling holes compared to Hondas £200 option.

Awesome

Am new to the civic owners network, but this forum is amazing - some truly great ideas and tips. I'll certainly be keeping track of changes I make, referencing you guys and hopefully adding a few things of my own into the mix!
Brilliant!

No way the BC547 is obsolete! ( or BC547A, BC547B, BC547C)

If you can not find one, about any NPN low power transistor wil do.

Hi,

I have a few questions
(they maybe stupid questions)

- When you say "dim" it means it fades out like the roof lights?

- In witch position of the ignition the leds dim, I or II?

- The leds only dim when the key is on the ignition, or do they also dim when you turn on the positioning lights or road lights?

- When you unlock/lock the car with the remote do the leds turn on/off like the roof lights?

Thanks
(sorry for my bad English)

If you connect like advised, the LED goes DIM a soon as the lights ar turned ON.
If you connect to the ignition +V then the LED goes DIM as soon as you turn on the ignition.
Simply: if the Pos lights input get +12V then the LED get a low current.
