Turn on radio with "Power" button.

Press and hold down the "DISP" button, then press button Nr. "1" five

times, on the display "P-DIAG" will appear,

press the "RPT" button, then you will see the software version

If it starts with 02 or 03 then there is an upgrade available.

I agree, it's not much use, but whilst searching to answer StuMCBill's question in another post, I noticed a few people have asked this (and got no response), so I thought it might be of use to some members .

About a year ago the was talk on the forum about an updated radio firmware, which improved reception. Some members with early models were having problems with RDS.

I assume 07 models onwards have a later firmware, as radio reception issues don't get mentioned much these days.

I suppose it would be intresting to see what the latest firmware number is, if someone with a later model posts it.

I wonder if the dealers can upgrade? Is there any difference in the newer firmware?

Yes, dealers can upgrade.
I have seen posts on here about FW upgrades, that are supposed to improve RDS poor frequency switching function and poor reception.

Although my reception is not great even with the latest FW.

So, whats involved in the upgrade FWH.
Does it involve the dealer ripping the car apart. ??

Don´t know exactly, they need to connect to the HU somehow to reflash it.

It may involve accessing the rear of the HU to connect to the otherwise unused connector.

Thats the problem with modern cars,
They are designed to be made, not taken apart.
