Puddle lights

Does any body know how to make puddle lights for when you open the door? And incase no one knows what i mean its just a light that sits on the underneath of the door so when you open the door it lights the ground underneath so when i step outa the car i dont ruin my £20 shoes lol or yes i could park away from the puddle but i think it sounds and looks cool.

At the moment I am working on fitting Leds into the plastic sill covers under the doors to shine down to the floor, and wireing them into the interior light circuit.
The reason for favouring the sills is it will be easier to route the wires than it would be from the doors.
If it all works ok I will post pics and a howto.

I fit these on TT's but my main concern on my Civic is the water that seems to be getting into the doors after heavy rain so this would causes them to short out very often! They do lool very cool though!

i did it a while ago with a strip of SMD LEDs. I have since disconnected it because i felt like a ricer.

it's fairly easy to do if you soldier up wires to the ceiling light and use them to power the LEDs.

Yes thats what I did - they're wired up to my interior courtesy light so have a nice dim on dim off feature. I also linked up the the same circuit to some LED's in the door handle so they light up when I unlock the car. The newer BMW's have this feature and Lexus have them under the door mirrors on the LS430.

They are a very good idea and very useful to have, although I'd prefer perhaps a smaller strip of LEDs and in ice white.

We need something similar to what RickR has done for the foot well lights.

as a puddle light people use these... neoquip NF240 Flexi (waterproof) LED strip bars

wire into your interior light so when you open your door they come on.

you can also use them in your footwell too. Red very popular on a civic, along with BLUE being the bightest.
