Tip for getting to the accessory socket

Perhaps you'll find this tip of use...

I have found that I can access the accessory socket without having to remove the centre console.
I used a screwdriver to carefully lever the sock up. It lifted easily about 5mm before it became trapped by a small C-shaped tab. I managed to carefully push this in using the screwdriver and by gently lifting the socket to one side I was then able to remove the socket from the hole.

No damage to the socket or surround and a lot quicker than having to remove the console.

Another handy way to remove the accessory socket is to buy a Tom-Tom 520, when pulling out the charging plug the accessory socket comes out where you want it to or not

It is so easy to remove the centre console, cut the wires to the ciggy lighter, use a pair of chocky block style connectors, and then wire in another power socket that can be firmly attached.

Not having a portable SatNav I positioned mine in the glovebox.

To remove the center console,
remove the 4 caps either side and then 4 x 8mm screws.
Lift the rear end of the console up and a slight tug at the front and away she comes.

my ciggy lighter came partially out when I pulled my satnav power lead out when I got home from the dealer after having picked my car up!!

It's on a small list of niggles that I'll phone them about soon.

At least it's not just me.

In case they tell you that it was caused by plugging in a 'non Honda accessory', mine was pulled loose by the Honda tyre compressor.

And be careful that you dont break/damage them. At almost £8 each, yes EACH, they aint cheap to replace.

I'm sure that's a mis-price that's stuck ?

When I drilled my centre console seat heater blanks to insert the Tm button I got a replacement first.

That is larger and contains more plastic but only cost a couple of quid.

I reckon whoever priced them up based it on the full set in a placky bag but it got translated into each ?

Parts prices are a joke!!!!

Has anyone (with a Honda system and too much time on their hands) worked out how much it would cost to buy a civic bit by bit?

I can confirm that this is the 'Honda' price as I got more than one reply to an earlier request.

I reckon Honda mis-priced ?

Dear Mr Honda.........

Them caps are about £8 each I've done a few on here already.

A few years ago we did start to build a Civic 5 door from scratch on the EPC. We got a bit fed up after three days and £6,000,000 and decided to leave the other 6/8ths of the car alone. That was back in 2003/4 IIRC.
