I'm going for my first DIY attempt with my Civic this weekend, as I'm going to try and install a Parrot HFT. Is it possible to fit the ISO2CAR cable with the disassembly in the steps of this guide, or do I need to remove the center console also ?
The cable I'm going to fit is like the one Meino has used here: http://www.civinfo.com/forum/showpos...22&postcount=5

Also, as my car is a left hand vehicle, what do I need to be aware of in respect to this guide ?

I'm really looking forward to have this kit fitted, but I am a bit worried about the dismounting process ..

Sorry for my presumably poor English skills. As you probably have noticed English isn't my native tongue.

mute cable

Hi,

Can someone (who installed a HF) tell me, what is the color of the mute wire on the original connector? According to my informations it should be a yellow one, but I think it can be easily checked if someone has an ISO2CAR cable.

Thanks in advance.

It should be possible to do it without removing the center console (the radio itself), but it could be a bit tricky... When the dash is removed using this howto you can look under the radio and see the connectors, but I don't know if it is easy to unplug the connectors and connect the ISO2CAR cable.. I have removed the center console which is pretty easy and which makes it much easier to connect the cables.

Thanx, for your reply. I will try it out this weekend.

Any hints to my question regarding left hand drive vehicles as opposed to this howto being for a right hand drive vehicle ?

I have a left hand drive vehicle too and succeeded using this howto. It's all the same, only at the other side
So drivers side = drivers side.. (or right = left)... Sounds a bit weird..

Hello,

I connected the iso-cable without taking the radio-unit out of the dash.
I think it's better to take out the radio if you want to install the parrotkit with that little screen or gps. See the install on Meino's car.
I preferred to install the microphone at the left side (not on the dash)
See pics included.
I wish you great luck with your installation !

Thanx for all your kind replys.

Honda4ever: The install you made looks ace..
I am thinking about placing the control unit somewhat like you have. I just want to remove the ashtray and install the control unit below the "sliding part" so that it cant be seen from outside of the car, when the slider is closed. (mine is a LS 3200 Colour) - Like Meino's but without the GPS..

How about the microphone cord, is it easy to put it away like you have done ? - any hints ?

I will post pics when I am done ..

The microphone was the easiest part of the installation.
You have to pull away the rubber at the door's side.
Lead the microphonecable between the carbody and the interior.
It's done in five minutes.

Just adding two bits of advice to the above:
1. To take the top off the dash I used a nylon spatula from the kitchen and worked at the soft part of the dash so as not to mark the hard plastic (see photo)
2. To take the end off the dash it is easier if you prise from the top using the soft part of the dash as your fulcrum (do you like that) again so as not to leave a mark. (see photo)

It is just a moulding that covers the screws for the display and for the stereo. In the photo I have removed the three screws that hold the stereo.

In the photo above the slots that you can see are for the push fit clips that hold in the cover!

How did you get to the back of the HU? Just remove the "top bit"?

I want to see if I can get the ipod link without the CD Changer cable, I know to fit it I'd prob have to remove the dash though...

I followed Pottsy's instructions and took the dash apart as I could not at any stage get at the back of the head unit. I did wonder what the access would be like if I took off the cover below the glove box but having the instructions from Pottsy I just followed them!

I think I am going to replace the mic, cause sometimes (when driving on motorway) people can't here me very clear. Probably because the distance of the mic.. So Honda4ever's setup of the mic is probably the better way as I did.

I'm going to connect the connects2 cable some point in the next couple of weeks. Once I've got to the end of Pottsy's guide, do I then need to remove the stereo too or is that it?

Yes, you need to remove the stereo. I've tried to put all the articles together in the wiki - have a look there!

Cheers Pottsy! I did have a look at the Wiki and it's great; just wasn't sure if the last step (taking the top panel off and removing the screws there) was completely necessary or if you could just get your hand up & plug the cable in! If anyone wants more pics or info as I do mine then please tell me.
