It's the headlights you want.

So a full twist, either 2 or three notches depending on trim level.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.

Will try it before going back home ( and quicker ... )

It will be already dark so the impact will be something astonishing

Tell you the results later.

Just didn't work

I think I did it quicky though...

1) Ignition key in zero position
ok no probs here

2) Press and hold down the Sel/Reset button on the steering wheel
I press it and keep it until step 6)

3) Turn on the light
The headlights (i have auto lights...) to position 3:
Position 0: Off
Position 1: Sidelights/Position lights
Position 2: Auto
Position 3: Headlights

4) Turn ignition into On(II) position
ok no probs here...the lights will

5) Turn the light off, then on, then off again
Same as 3), for the position 3

6) Release the Sel/Reset button.
ok no probs here

7) Within 5 seconds press the Sel/Reset button three times
I count until 5 and then quickly press/depress 3 times the button, but the only I see is the display changing from trip info A to trip info B.
I've done it also without waiting 5 seconds, and the result was null too...

I did give up after 3 tries yesterday...

Will reset my brain and try it again today or tommorow maybe...

I have Auto lights, and it only worked for me switching between 'off' and 'sidelights'. Try that

That's your mistake! You have to press the butten three times WITHIN 5 seconds, not after 5 seconds.

This is the way it worked for me also, I also have the Auto function and Xenon lights.

So in this case, turn from off to position 1, not to headlights!

Same here in my Civic fitted with daytime running lights as all Civics for Denmark is.

The main headlamps turn on when the ignition (key in position II) is on.

Thumbs down

GUYS,just a word of warning, while the display of all the lights may seem very impressive to you and your friends, what your actually messing about with is a test to check all communication lines within the multiplex canbus system on the car.The gauge control module acts as a gateway to allow both systems to share information, the gauge control module translates information from B-CAN to F-CAN and from F-CAN to B-CAN. although failures of the multiplex guage unit are rare, inapproiate "playing" by untrained personnel could lead to potential problems .

I agree with hondatech,
Also the mechanical "analog" gauges are getting a "zero" init, makes them bang the lower stop of the meter. Not at all recommended!
It is OK for a one time check, not for playing!

Hondatech,
All these buses, would they be Midland Red ?. Seriously, from your post and your Ename, it sounds like we can look forward to some useful inside info in the future.
Regards, pcr.

What sort of potential problems? I am seriously concerned about build quality if a self test caused the displays/systems to malfunction!

How about a bit of inappropriate "playing" by trained personnel? Is that okay? If we F-Can, then we F-will! Actually, on a serious note, could such shenanigans invalidate your warranty if Honda found out?

jay,i wasnt trying to be a scaremonger over this, but merely pointed out what was being tested by doing a guage test, in a workshop enviroment your car may never have this done at all in its lifetime unless you have reported having electrical problems, then it may be checked. But repeatedly performing this in my opinion ,is asking for trouble & with all the other problems that are ongoing with the civic at the moment i would have thought that most of you would want to protect your investment & avoid any future problems further down the line, obviously whilst in the warranty period this should`nt be an issue however once out of warranty who know`s what the cost might be !!

Thanks for that HT. Actually I must confess to not actually trying it yet. Maybe I'll just stick to real fireworks on Nov 5th, as opposed to the Civic's own impressive display!

It is not OK when "ERROR" message is displayed. It means that there is a communication problem within multiplex net.
