Hi guys

I have something (sounds metal like a screw) rolling around in the bottom of my drivers door.

Cant quite tell by looking at the pictures but can I just pull (unclip) the door panel from the bottom to see if the object falls out or do I have to unscrew and take the whole door panel off from the top.

I would go for removing the whole panel. You might save 3 minutes by just unclipping the bottom, but on mine many of the clips got stuck in the metal door frame and needed some screwdrivering out, which can only be done with the panel off. Also, there's not much access into the door even with the panel off, so best get rid of it.

Do you have to lever around the edge of the panel or do you just pull on the internal armrest/handle. They seem quite tight?

You have to get your fingers under the panel in a lower corner, and give it a sharp pull.

Hi Pottsy

Got the bottom of the door off and one of the white plastic fixing studs fell out, that's what was rolling around.

As I pulled the panel away most of the white fixings stayed in the door and they are tough to get out.

Thanks for you help.

Np - for anyone reading, the way to get the studs out is to prise them with a huge flat blade screwdriver.

DT,
Had and did exactly the same thing. I guess like me, you didn't trouble to find out where it came from.

The ones pictured earlier in this thread look identical to the ones I took out of my type R at the weekend. The stock woofer speakers are incredibly light with very small magnets. The tweeters are similarly light weight.

I guess its because they know the infinitys will fit because others have installed them, it is a tight space with the front window just clearing the speaker when it is wound down. I was also pleased with the way the tweeters can be mounted in the existing tweeter frames - they fit thru the tweeter housing with the help of a stanley knife trimming. I still think the head unit is not up to driving the infinitys properly as I have to turn the bass up and treble down to get an acceptable sound (Note I am not a bass head and have never had to do this on previous cars).

I am no expert on hifi, but I think the infinitys are a good improvement with modern recordings and speech radio. But older stuff sounds strange because the treble is very distinctive and separate from the rest of the sound. This sounds a bit obvious, but I think its because of the tweeters being separate from the woofers and the way music used to be recorded! I am still giving the speakers time to bed in and fiddling about with the settings - something else I read on here.

I tried putting the fader back to the original rear speakers only today. They sounded terrible - so I guess the infinitys must be good.

If I get a chance, I will pop into an audio specialists and see what they say. No doubt I will surface from the shop with an amp or something!

What do other people think about their own infinity speaker upgrade ?
