Hi there new to the site, just received my Civic 2.2 EX last Friday. Just come across this site in last few days and have found it very helpfull so thankyou.
Hopefully I might be able to help some of you who like me are trying to get their bleedin Ipod into their EX.
I spoke to a company called Progressive Consumer Electronics who are the main UK distributer for Dension products(they are also listed on the Dension website), I spoke to them direct because every other ICE shop around Edinburgh told me there was no way to connect the Ipod to the EX and I wanted to get an idea when one might be available.
Progressive told me that there is a new Ice>link plus model which has only been out for a week and most of the stockists do not know this yet.
The kit is £99 similar to most other Ice>link plus kits.

Once I get my new Ipod 80gig I will also be purchasing one of these kits.

Progressive can be contacted on 08718719747 or at info@progressiveav.com

This is the kit i have installed...

If you have an EX then yes it looks like you will need to buy the adaptor... but that would be the same for any ipod kit i reckon...

Hi guys,

I just thought I would join and say hello. I work for Progressive Consumer Electronics in the UK and we are the UK distributor for Dension.

The thing that I wanted to point out to people is whilst you have a great dash in your card with lots of info displayed you aren't going to get the info from your iPod displayed on it. This is pretty much the same for all cars.

The main reason is due to the limitations of the cars headunit and the CD interface on it rather than anything else. When possible Dension always include the highest level of integration possible e.g. thier BMW interface. Some headunits that can display ID3 tags on can have the iPod tracks displayed but their aren't many that can do it. Another reason why full integration is not so great anyway is that the dock connector on the iPod is incredibly slow for data transfer. The best solution that we have seen is the Becker iPod interface (which I personally have in my MX5 along with a new Becker Grand Prix headunit) even this isn't perfect though but is as close as we can find. Unf. this isn't a great solution to your problems because everything is so integrated in the new Civic. This means that the best solution is really putting the interface back in to iPod UI mode and using the click wheel to select the music you want to listen to and using the track forward and track back on your headunit/steering wheel to control the track.

I hope this has answered some of your questions or at least given you more information.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Regards

Paul

Thanks for this Paul.
When I rung progressive on friday, the girl in the tech dept told me there was a kt released by dension in the last week or so that would allow connection to the Civic EX (one with Sat Nav and HFT) without having to purchase the expensive Honda 2 pin Bus cable,as some sort of solution was in the kit. Incidently I am not too fussed about seeing tracks etc on the dash (although would be good). I just want to find a solution to get my my Ipod connected to my lovely new car.

Can you confirm this to be true before I hand over my cash, or advise of another type of kit Progressive know of for the EX.

Thanks again and look forward to your reply.

To the best of my knowledge the latest Honda kit from Dension supports all of the latest headunits from Honda and ones going back to around 2002.

If of course you order one and you find that it doesn't work then we will give you a full refund.

I am double checking with Dension support now regardless.

Regards

Paul

Paul, great to have you on this forum, I think you will find a lot of business coming your way when the offcial iPod link from Honda is just an aux in at a ridiculous £250!!!!

My question for you is this, do you have a list of recommended installers for the UK, specifically the Gloucestershire area?? I want to buy the link but I also need to have it fitted by a professional as I have had my fingers burnt before on a Dension kit.

FYI, I am trying to work with Paul to get some sort of deal/official link up to make it really easy for those of us interested in adding an ipod link to our cars.

I'll keep you all informed

Ice Link Plus has a composite video out on it. What you plug it in to is your business If your navi has a composite video input then obviously yes you can do it.

Hi again Paul, any update from Dension support regarding the EX ?

Regarding the Sat Nav playing video from the Ipod, does anyone know if the Sat nav has a composite video input ????

I was hoping to hear back from Paul @ progressive by now, as I don't intend to buy any Dension kit until I am sure it works without the expensive Honda 2 pin bus cable.

Basegreen have you had any feedback from Paul regarding the deal with him ?

I'd be up for the Dension provided it doesn't need the Honda cable as you point out Daven.

Hi Tucker !

I've got some troubles with my IceLink connexion. My IPod can play music, I also have the controls trough the stering. But I can't access the Dension menu on the IPod to switch to the IPod UI interface. The button Cd#6 doesn't do anything. Did you need to update the firmware of the radio set or the Ipod ?

My IPod is a 5G Video firmware 1.2 (recently updated) and the IceLink is on version 4.1.
