Pika -

I struggled with this at first - but once you find out how its fairly simple.

Connect your iPod and it will display the Dension logo, and then the track title and artist in a weird font. Use the Disc + button on the Head Unit to select Disc 6 (not the "6" button), and then wait... Look at the iPod screen, and you should find that the iPod has gone into the Dension menu... You can then use the |<< and >>| buttons to skip through, and from memory holding down >>| is select.

Any probs let me know.

Can anyone confirm exactly which Dension part I need to order and confirm if the Honda cable is needed or not.

Alternatively - what's the best "other" solution to connect an iPod ?

thx

Dension Icelink>Plus for ES

Will the ice>Link Plus: iPod Car Side Connection for Honda (stock code 45121) work on the ES model without any lead from Honda ? I spoke to GHC and was told it depends who makes the head unit.
Who does make the head unit on the ES model ?

Help would be appreciated

Thanks

Pezza -

I ordered the Dension kit from GHC. The stock code 54121 will work with the ES. However when ordering, ensure that you specify the "Honda B" kit - the new version. The old one will not work. If they dont understand you, then let me know and i will dig out my old paperwork.

PS - I believe the HU is made by Pioneer... but im not sure.

GYNF -

You need to order the above part - again specify the Honda B kit. If you are connecting to an EX, then I believe you will need the CD changer extension cable from Honda... but someone with an EX will confirm this - check earlier in the thread.

I'm having an EX model. I read the thread as one say the cable is needed another says it isn't.... can someone confirm that they have en EX model and has the Ice>link working without the expensive CD changer extension cable.

thx

I have just installed a Dension kit into my EX, and you do need the adaptor lead from Honda all £91 of it.

This basically splits the single 14 pin input cable into two seperate 14 pin cables. One for the Dension and the other for the existing cable.

The existing cable only uses 4 pins from the 14 available, with a bit of effort, you could modify the Dension lead to include these four cables as the Dension uses the other ten pins.

At least I now have the ipod connected.

The Dension kit was purchased from GHC as above.

I'm just extremely worried that the bluetooth kit (non-ex version) will also use the 14pin socket and I'll need the £91 bus cable!
Do you think anybody will make a 3rd party cable MUCH cheaper soon?

It's made by one of 2 companies and all of the connections are bespoke for the Honda only....therefore somebody would have to make the cable specifically for the Honda

Ok totally confused by all this now, so is there any chance of a brief synopsis of what models need what cables etc?

I am getting an SE and from what I could gather from the original thread this does NOT (?) require the cd changer cable (£91 from Honda). Or does it?.

Does the ICE link just plug into the back of the HU or not?

It WILL not require the £91 cable from Honda. Unless you have the bluetooth adaptor, then honestly we don't know!

I've tried the Dension unit from GHC (Honda "A" hybrid) no surprise it didn't work. Anyone got a supplier with older Honda "B" stock?

BTW: if you're really keen you can install it with out taking out the cover plate on the top of the dash or removing the head unit, just go in under the head unit. Getting it out requires time and effort though...

You need to order the Honda B kit - as described in the guide i wrote - else it will cut out all sound from the head unit.

I got mine from gordon harwood computers - at GHC.co.uk.

It may be worth ringing them up and specifying that you need the B kit.
