Here is Tucker's guide in "post" format (the pdf is best if you need to print it). Thank you Tucker for this - it is ace! All this below is Tucker's work:

Installing the Icelink>Plus in your 2006 Honda Civic

Note: My Civic is an SE model, and so parts of the dash removal process will differ on the EX, due to the sat nav screen.

I sourced my Icelink>plus from Gordon Harwood Computers - http://www.ghc.co.uk

It cost 99.29 including VAT, and was posted next day. The service I received was exceptional and I would recommend them to anybody. The initial Ice>link did not work, and the technical dept contact dension directly and sourced the correct part. The stock number is 45121, however when ordering ensure you specify that you need the “Honda B” type unit.

Installing the Dension Icelink>Plus

Step 1

This guide will get you started removing part of the dash:
[HOW TO] Get into the dash

Step 2

In order to remove the head unit assembly from the dash, there are 5 screws which require undoing. 3 are located below the blanking plate here:

01a.jpg

The blanking plate can be levered up with a screwdriver, but take care not to scratch the plastic. Tip – cover the end of the screwdriver with electrical or masking tape…

Step 3

…and 2 are located underneath the head unit here:

02.jpg

Step 4

Once all 5 screws are removed, the head unit assembly will pull away from the dash. Its fairly tight, but a careful and confident tug will remove it.

03.jpg

Step 5

Slide the head unit out from the dash, taking care not to scratch anything.

04.jpg

We can now identify the CD Changer slot more easily. Plug the cable supplied into the slot as below:

05.jpg

Step 6

Run the cable down the back of the head unit, and out by the gear stick:

06.jpg

Connect the other end of the cable to the Icelink>Plus. In this picture you can see the Cigarette lighter adaptor I have installed in order to power my tomtom.

07.jpg

Step 7

At this point, we can connect up the cradle, and plug in the iPod. Switch the ignition to the accessory position, and all being well the iPod should begin to charge, and also display the Dension logo.

08.jpg

Step 8

Now you need to decide where you are going to mount your cradle, which is where this guide begins to become a little useless. You need to run the cable to your preferred location and mount the cradle. I chose to store my cradle in the centre console tray, and so I have drilled a small hole to feed the cable through. The hole looks larger than required, but I had to drill it that big to get the connector through!!!

09.jpg

Step 9

Re-assemble the dash, taking care to ensure that no cables are visible as you go.

Step 10

Admire your handy work!

Excellent guide.
Thanks for doing this, a great help to the rest of us who have been desperate to get our iPods working.

From the Gordon Harwood site for those of a nervous disposition

Self installation or fitting service available through Car Phone Warehouse or UniCar (click links for details).

So what would be different for the EX?

Also (echo from earlier question) what control does this give you?

Excellent guide!!

Hi guys...

There is 2 modes of operation -

the first allows you to control the ipod via the steering wheel and head unit buttons, skip through tracks, adjust volume, and disc +/- scrolls through your first 6 playlists. This mode locks out the scroll wheel.

The second allows you to control the ipod via the scroll wheel, but not via the head unit or steering wheel...

There are advantages and disadvatages of both...

To change the mode:

Select CD 6

Use the skip keys to select option 1 - "select ipod UI"

Hold Skip forward (FF)

When prompted remove ipod from cradle and reconnect.

The screen on the EX is slightly different, meaning that access to the top of the head unit would be different...

If anyone can post a photo of that area i can have a look see... other than that i dont think there would be any difference... Apart from maybe what is displayed on the screen?

In fact I just ordered the kit from the site you got yours from. Thanks again

Just don't know how i will get my guts up to install the thing myself
If I can't, I'll be having it installed proffessionally. The guide you have prepared makes it easier though, I must say... We'll see.

displayed

Hi,
does anyone know what will be on display in an Exe model. I'm hoping for a full iPod interface with all the bells and whistles....

If it is working as the CD changer then you won't see the full iPod info on the screen. All you will see is the CD name (which refers to a playlist on the iPod) and the track number in the playlist. You won't have full iPod control (i.e. ability to browse through Artist, Title, Genre, etc). You will probably have access to 6 specifically named playlists only.

So Tucker; you don't have an EX model? Won't the EX need an extra part I was led to believe? Which is another £100 or so!

Aslo does anybody know where the bluetooth Honda adaptor plugs in to the back of the HU? Not the CD changer slot I hope?

I rather agree with Tucker, experience shows that their install may be so bad it could be mistaken for a Swindon OEM fit. Remember that monkeys could type the works of Shakespeare given enough time and bananas!

If you need the extra bit to plug in the CD changer then yes you will need it for the icelink...
