The hole is very small, about 2mm x 4mm, and not much light comes out.
But when you are in the dark (with no street lights) it does put a some light on the gear stick and centre console, which you only notice if you cover the hole with your hand. |

In my Type-R the light is very poor and could be useful not for find the gear but to find objects in the tray area when i'm stopped. The problem is that the single centre led (red in type r) is connected with the knob regulation to change the global illumination. Obviously at night the global illumination setting i use are softer than day and so the light become invisible. But if you try to have full global illumination the Nav change to day light and you'll find that the Nav screen made you quite blind and with some sort of UVA face burn

This forum is keeping me fit; having to keep running downstairs and into the garage to check things I have read here! (My wife says I am obsessed with the spaceship - she might be right.)
Yes, there is a very small grommet between the main courtsy lights in the central unit in the roof of the car. A very weak blue light comes on when you turn on the lights. I have an '07 Type S with the glass roof. Keep looking Robbo! Anthony. |

Ambient lighting
Coincidence this thread came up on the main page. Just after installing my own ambient footwell lighting for a grand total of £2 for the LEDs. Really simple, think I saw a how to on here a while ago. Connected the 2 LEDs to the cig lighter connection. They come on when the key is at postion one or two. No dimmers or anything yet, just wanted a really faint light so waiting for it to get dark now just.
"How to" on taking the dash apart was the only info really needed for this mod. Pleased so far and if it doesnt look as good as I want ill take it out! |
