No they didn't, but that woulda been cool. Too bad I didn't come to think of it. Perhaps I'll have it done later, thanks for the tip.

I upgraded on the weekend to the Infinities. So far, I'm not totally impressed. As Skaven252 said a couple of posts back, they sound a little too trebley (even with Treble set to -5 or so). The speakers seem to seriously lack mid-range punch and there's too much emphasis on the very top and bottom ends of the spectrum. They have an extremely tinny nature which I was not expecting from this upgrade - even with the tweeters wired to the -3dB terminal.

However it's early days and I'm hoping the sound will change as the speakers bed in. I can't imagine them changing that much though I'll post back in a couple of weeks when they've had a few hours more running in time.

Is there some kind of hidden EQ control on the radio or is the only adjustment the bass and treble settings?

Had my speakers upgraded about 6 weeks ago and whilst there is an improvement, arguably not worth the money the speakers cost (and labour in my case!).

I still think the speakers lack seriously in bass with the music around volume 20 and only when it gets upwards of 25 do they sound what I expected. Perhaps I need to invest in the Alpine sub, but that again will require me forking out for labout as I'm useless with electrics.

For people in two minds whether to get this done - do it if you can do the work yourself and get the speakers for around £70. Otherwise save your pennies unless you really can't live with the factory ones.

Thanks to your guide, i now have a new shiney pair of mutant X components sitting in my front doors, it only took an hour! next on the list is the active sub behind the glove box, or even under the back seat.

They are needed to connect to the separate crossover unit. The original installation does not use a separate crossover only a small capacitor on the rear of the tweeter. This is one of the areas that cause the poor sound from the original set up the other is the speakers and tweeters themselves.

There's no sealing needed. If water is going to get in and build up, then your speakers are doomed whatever. Somehow I suspect though that the water will come out of the door card before it hits your speaker.

its the door card i am more worried about speakers are a lot cheaper to uy than a new door panel the honda speakers are more sealed and the water flow would go to the iner door but if you srew new rings on i think it could be a problem

Hi, looking through most of the post everyone seems to be going for the 6510cs. Looking around on the web what about Infinity REF-6520cs? They seem to be simular in spec, maybe slightly better on the bass side?
Not much difference about £10 more expensive for the 6520cs. Or are they just a newer model?

cheers

Have you checked the dimensions?
I tried, but couldnt find them on-line.
I hope the 6520s are not much deeper so that they don´t fit.

Hello!
I installed the front speakers, but I got a hold of the Alpine speaker adaptors for 7gen Civic from SPS-171 speakers, which are slightly shallower and needed only one hole to be drilled. First you have to cut off tabs on the back since they don't fit in the holes, and rotate the ring 135 degrees clockwise (for left doors) to align the holes. And also bend the blind tab on the back side of the speaker so it doesn't interfere with metal. Outline the original speaker for easier alignement. Note that the speaker is rotated so that the beams of the housing are vertical and horizontal, and the connector tab on the 'north-east' side.
Easy.

Hope I made myself clear, Andrej
